Generally how does it work. Do you still get full pay regardless of hours or do you get paid for only the hours you work.

Where I work you get paid full-time when working less hours during a phased return. I don’t know if this would be something all employers do. Might be detailed in your company’s sickness policy.

At mine you can have a phased return for up to three months. You will get full pay for four weeks then paid for the hours actually worked for the remainder (you can also choose to use leave though to maintain full pay though)

This is above and beyond what they have to pay though

Where I work your only get paid in full for 4 weeks thereafter have to use annual leave or unpaid leave until working full time again.

The acas link says:

Pay during a phased return to work
If the employee returns to their normal duties but on reduced hours, they should get their normal rate of pay for those hours they work.

For the time they're not able to work, they should get sick pay if they're entitled to it.

If the employee is doing lighter duties, it's up to the employer and employee to agree on a rate of pay. It’s a good idea to make sure this agreement is put in writing.

Thank you this makes things a lot clear
