What are you doing today?

OP posts:
Snowdropsandbluebells · 31/10/2021 14:29

Having an easy day as I'm back to work tomorrow. Currently cleaning the oven (in bags)
While I wait I'm watching the film Dumpling based on a recommendation here during the week. Hugging dc

Cooking later on and Trick or Treating with dc.

Pheebs2021 · 31/10/2021 14:31

I'm stopping in doors - haven't got a lot to do today, but equally no reason to be out in the bad weather.

StarCourt · 31/10/2021 14:35

Colouring my hair after a big row with DD about not doing homework again. And housework whilst waiting for colour to take

elQuintoConyo · 31/10/2021 14:40

Have been to an art workshop with DC, tidied up after yesterday's Halloween slumber party, made pear and pumpkin soup now watching Addams Family.

Sewing this afternoon, will take the dog out around 5 as the sea is rough and the beach is empty, looks amazing, sounds thunderous! Although the sun is shining, so exercise plus cobweb-blowing!

Other than that, sweet FA.

Holiday tomorrow (am in Spain),

Silkieschickens · 31/10/2021 14:44

We are researching planning applications for listed buildings, having jam and toast for breakfast, roast dinner, collecting orders from Dunelm and Asda, changing the bedding, making a swivel chair, cleaning out the silkies then pumpkin carving.

Silkieschickens · 31/10/2021 14:45

And collecting Dd who has been on a 2 night sleepover and 2 Halloween parties.

LoveFall · 31/10/2021 15:15

Still in bed reading Mumsnet. It is just after 8 am here. Must get up soon to take dog out, although he is crashed out on the bed himself.

I will probably work at painting wood rounds for Christmas ornaments. Santa, gnomes, snow people, that sort of thing. I am enjoying learning to draw and paint them.

Doublechins · 31/10/2021 15:30

Stuck indoors with covid. Have done the housework. Made a cobbler and now just sitting MNing. Have ironing to do at some point.

RosieLemonade · 31/10/2021 15:31

I've had my DN stay for 3 days. It's been non stop! Today had been pizza making, two different kind of Halloween baking. I did the food shop. The girls watched Hotel Transylvania. Now they are having a bath before putting on their costumes for Halloween games and a buffet. Maybe trick or treating a long our road.

vampirethriller · 31/10/2021 15:36

I've made soda bread, soup and rock buns, made a pumpkin lantern with the toddler, and now we're waiting for my friend to get here and we're going to the park for a Halloween kids thing.

Mixitupalot · 31/10/2021 15:45

Had a quiet morning reading and drinking tea. Then went to visit my parents for a few hours, home now to bath the kids and get the school uniforms ready for tomorrow. Dinner book in a local restaurant for 6pm.

Then home, bedtime and back to work tomorrow after a lovely 2 weeks off!

Nidan2Sandan · 31/10/2021 15:53

I was at a mixed martial arts seminar yesterday & oh my word do I ache today! I went to karate hoping to work some of the pains away, didnt work Grin

DD12 wants to be taken to the next town over later, DS10, DD9 want to go trick or treating.

I was going to cook a roast, but can be bothered.

Burnt0utMum · 31/10/2021 15:59

Did apple bobbing with the kids this morning. Then we've baked and decorated some Halloween cupcakes and ate quite a few of them 🙈. Then we had to go out to buy a few bits I forgot yesterday and pop to the post office. Then came home and did a Halloween toy hunt round the house and had a bit of chill out time. Just about to do an early dinner for the kids, then they will be getting ready and we're going trick or treating. Hopefully the rain will stop or at least stay light.

LadyCatStark · 31/10/2021 16:04

We cleaned up our village hall after last night’s Halloween party. We’re on the hall committee and we’ve all put in a huge amount of effort and it was awesome! Then we went out for coffee and cake. DS is watching a Spider-Man movie while DH carves his pumpkin (DS and I have already done ours). I walked the dog in the wind and rain which I hated and he loved! Now he’s having a nap while he dries off. I’m going to make a lasagne in a minute and DS is going trick or treating for the first time now that we live on a family friendly street, while I stay in and answer the door. I’m just trying to work out whether if I put novelty pyjamas on, I can pass them off as a Halloween costume 😂.

PhoboPhobia · 31/10/2021 16:12

Not a lot. Have done a few loads of washing. Short walk with the puppy. Driven to four different train stations trying to find an open ticket office - futile.

Going to put washing away soon, shower an pjs and do even less for the rest of the day/evening.

Rubyupbeat · 31/10/2021 16:13

Cut out a few patterns onto fabric, my worst part of dressmaking, and halfway through cooking a vegan roast, yum!

EileenGC · 31/10/2021 16:13

I had a lazy morning rewatching old seasons of my favourite sport. Weather is (was) gorgeous here today so on my way to work I took a long walk through the park which looks so different than last week, I love seeing it change in the autumn.

I got to work around 1pm. I’m taking a short break now before doing one or two more hours. Will probably put a pizza in the oven when I get home whilst I prep tomorrow’s clothes (think black tie event 😭). Emails and some more TV before bed.

Eminybob · 31/10/2021 16:17

We did a scarecrow trail in a nearby village this morning.
Then McDonald’s on the way home.
Just carved the 2nd pumpkin and put them out, and will be taking the boys out trick or treating soon. There is a locally famous street round the corner from us that goes all out with decorations and entertainment, while collecting for charity and the Dc love it.

hiredandsqueak · 31/10/2021 16:38

I've stripped all the beds, remade them and washed and dried the laundry. Done the ironing and put it all away. Cleaned the bathroom, walked the dog, bathed the dog (necessitating in needing to clean said bathroom) Made a steak pie including the pastry as I forgot to buy ready made and just about to dish that up with some mash and veg. Then once I've cleared away tidied the kitchen I intend to sit down and find something to watch on TV hopefully.

H1978 · 31/10/2021 16:51

Been out to the closest shopping centre to us in leeds today. The buses are free just for today in our area so thought I’d take dds out. Just on our way home but it’s been a nice day, just us girls. I don’t drive so normally dh takes us.

Amdone123 · 31/10/2021 17:00

Woke up after an horrendous night's sleep. Met my dsis at 10am for a 2 hour hike. It was raining heavily and blowing a gale and, as much as I'm a summer babe, I really enjoyed it. I was wrapped up super warm, so I suppose that makes a difference. We had a good chat and a laugh. Came home and made a roast chicken dinner for my dh ( he was working all night - hence my reason for being awake all night). Lunch was super and we had sticky toffee pudding and custard for afters.
I'm now waiting for my granddaughter as she stays Sunday night. I'm wondering if we'll play Barbies, build lego or like yesterday, build a den in the living room and role play.
Ahh thee excitement !!

Serena1977 · 31/10/2021 17:01

Day 8 of covid. Not got much energy so a quiet day. Did some colouring and crosswords. Spoke to DM on video messaging. DMIL rang to check on us, she'll get us some shopping tomorrow. DC bored silly but pleased they don't have to go to school. DH making hunters chicken for dinner, covid hasn't affected him as much as me! Which is a good thing as he spent time in ITU at the end of August and he is still fragile.
Ordered some christmas gifts. still contemplating what to do about christmas. DMIL goes to other son every year ( DH is nc with his B) therefore DM thinks she can come here which means my B gets off scott free every year. I want it to be just the 4 of us and DDog of course who is new to us!

Lynne1Cat · 31/10/2021 17:06

I did some washing, ironing and vacuuming, then went out with my husband and our 2nd son (37), we called round for him, went for a pub lunch, then came back to ours. Son walked home (1/2 a mile) and I made a couple of 'phone calls to friends. A pleasant day.

fitflopqueen · 31/10/2021 17:37

Very slow start due to a 4am lift offer to collect son from our local city, pets fed and quick run round about 9am then back to bed.

Up again at 10:30 as dad came to pick up a left item. Heavy rain this morning. Went for dog walk once rain stopped. Arranged to meet up with friends later in week.
Back for breakfast/lunch, afternoon lolling on sofa, watching Squid Game, out with dog for play outside. Rain started again so have lit fire - first for this autumn.

Dog and cat have had early supper and we will have last nights supper reheated, Pork and prunes in cider with cauliflower mash and greens.
Other than watching Strictly results no other plans this evening, currently having a gin and tonic.

WhyAmIDoingIt · 31/10/2021 17:57

Had a lazy start with coffee and croissants in bed. Booked a lodge for next year for a mini break which will be nice to look forward to. Read a bit of my book.

Did some cleaning and laundry the rest of the morning.
Exh dropped the kids off around 12. Took ds to his football match (which they won- always a bonus).

Had bacon butties when we got back in along with snacks on Halloween plates in front of Hocus Pocus.
Carved a pumpkin with dd2. Put a load of stuff in the loft which I've been meaning to do for ages.

Just about to have some paella for dinner then taking dd2 trick or treating with a friend and her youngest while the teens watch a horror film.
