Hi my son is 5 . He really loves learning. Always wants to tell me the answer to the math question.show me the word he can read etc. He's not ahead or anything. But he's so proud of himself. I thought I may as well see if I can find him some fun learning toys /activities for Xmas.

Definitely do not want a tablet I know they do great things. But I just wanted something a bit different.

Leapfrog have a good range of learning toys, I'd have a look at them.

Have a look at smart games www.smartgames.eu/ Obnoxious name but they sell lots of fun puzzles that are great for kids that like a challenge.

Card games with numbers in like uno or sushi go.

Picture books, oh no George, oi frog etc he will be able to read some words in. Also have a mooch around the non fiction kids books at your local bookshop. There's some really lovely books for this age.

I wouldn't bother with leapfrog type toys personally, although I know some parents like them.

Have you tried edxeducation the Fun Play range look at the Number Rods, great hands on toy I use with my son, he likes the construction and creative side as well as the maths element... which are a STEAM based educational toy you can buy from Amazon or here www.shopedx.co.uk/collections/funplay/products/fun-play-number-rods

Carnovsky books with three layers of illustrations that you can see through different coloured lenses - Illumosaurus was a favourite with my kids.

Hi! I dont have own kids but my little niece was so excited when i gave this game while we were on the plane. Its connecting with colors of fruits and can educate to distinguishing how fruits look. Its some kind of coloring pattern. But you said that your soon very keen on learning toys maybe it will be boring for him. I leave a link 😀
