I think rabbit is checking no one is about to steal his pumpkin Math Grin Rabbit is always trying to steal DSs food even as he puts it in his mouth rabbit will jump on his lap and try and take a bite and he is worried someone may do the same back.

Silkiecat just did a big jump to be next to DH, DH was shocked as she is 17 and rarely jumps much but she really wanted to be next to him.

Stressful morning with DD going to school late and arguing that mocks and being late don't matter. Hmm DS went fine but is still missing some lessons and he has exams next year.

Do you have a guinea pig picture Ellie we love pet pictures on here. Hope the pains get better.

I looked for fireworks here and all cancelled. Us and the next 2 counties school said have gone into an enhanced covid area, not sure what one of those is, but its informal restrictions. I can understand it seeing how much covid is in the schools and how rammed the hospital was.

EllieSattler · 04/11/2021 09:53

These are my piggies in the play pen they go in when their hutch is getting cleaned out Smile they are lovely little creatures.

Update from Horse Watch - a horse is doing horsey things with its person in the arena. In the main this is extremely dull but it has kept ChampagneCat glued to the window for ages Grin

Good news on the oil Helena but ouch to the bank balance. Hope you are feeling better?

Off to the old house to clean in a bit. Also have my flu jab this afternoon and I may even fill the car with diesel while I'm at it, so it's a rock and roll day all in all.

Silkieschickens · 04/11/2021 09:57

Very cute guinea pigs Ellie

languagelover96 · 04/11/2021 09:58

Feeling better today. Off to purchase some tea lights for myself later on today and also see if I can find some more Christmas decorations etc as well.

HelenaJustina · 04/11/2021 10:24

@Champagneforeveryone it is a bit ouch. But we haven’t ordered since May 2020 when the price crashed and we brimmed the tank, so we’ve not done badly. The delivery will be here before the 12th so now it’s a game of chicken between DH, the heating controls and the tank level…

Feeling fine now thanks, still no sense of smell but taste has returned.

MissConductUS · 04/11/2021 13:14

Sorry to hear about your pains, Ellie. Your pigs are adorable. Thewolves, let us know what your GP has to say. The oral steroids are for short-term use only, so something else needs to be tried.

We had a freeze warning last night, so DH drained the pipe that supplies water to the hose on the deck and I brought in or tossed the last of the plants. It did get just below freezing this morning for the first time this fall.

We heat with propane, and it also fuels the water heater, stove hob and clothes dryer. We do one purchase for the year in the summer, when prices are low, and the propane company comes and delivers as needed, based on the temperatures and our historical usage. They're coming today to make the first delivery since last spring. We have a 500-gallon tank.

Propane prices are way up here, so I'm glad we did the prebuy in August. Now we just have to hope there aren't shortages as the weather gets colder.

Phoned doctor today about breast lump I have had since May and she did 2ww referral and said to prepare for bad news and its normally cancer with my symptoms. Shock Not quite sure how she expects me to prepare, do I get my will done, run out and spend all my savings. Confused I am taking the la-la-la she will be wrong approach.

DH will go tonight and get more Silkiecat renal diet food, some bedding from Dunelm as its getting colder here.

MissConductUS · 04/11/2021 15:35

Silkie, that's concerning. When was your last mammogram? Have you had it looked at since it appeared in May?

OP posts:
Silkieschickens · 04/11/2021 15:41

I have never had a mammogram and no did not get it looked at yet. I emailed the gp in June, male gp replied it was almost certainly nothing but said he would get me called back but I was asleep when they called. Then just left it thinking probably nothing but read a MN thread with woman with the same and it was cancer so got back to doctors. Mammograms start here in early 50s.

MissConductUS · 04/11/2021 15:50

Forgive my plain language, but NHS cancer screening is really inadequate/not fit for purpose. Here it's done annually starting at age 40.

Let's hope they get in you in for one in that two-week window.

Lemonsandlemonade · 04/11/2021 19:05

Oh gosh @Silkieschickens that’s frightening. Don’t think the doctor was helpful to ‘prepare’ you like that.

@MissConductUS TBF the NHS needs looking at in general. I do feel hugely grateful though as we were lucky and had IVF via NHS which resulted in my son. I realise on MN IVF and funding is a hugely contentious subject.

DS was super in swimming today but cried when he went under water. He was supposed to be dunked under.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/11/2021 20:05

Silkiechickens
From a breast cancer survivor - please get yourself to a gyn as soon as possible. Female health should not be left to a GP.
I went for my yearly checkup from age 16 (breast, uterus, cervix and ovaries - mammograms from a certain age onwards).

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/11/2021 20:06

On a calmer note - it is raining heavyly and very windy. Guess who got wet?

Sunbird24 · 04/11/2021 20:24

Evening! I have burst at least one blood vessel in my eye and it’s all sore and itchy. I thought about sharing a photo but it’s a bit gross and I’d rather see cute pet pics instead

😻

Sunbird24 · 04/11/2021 20:30

That was the heart eyes cat emoji, but it obviously doesn’t translate on here! He’s so cute…

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/11/2021 20:32

Well, I can see a little cat mouth and teeth!

Sev was lovely but a bit dim, that's why we kept him indoors.

MissConductUS · 04/11/2021 21:59

As long as we're doing pictures, here are two cat photos and a picture of what I made last year for Thanksgiving. We didn't do a big get-together because of covid, so we had ham, mac & cheese and carrots in orange juice with brown sugar.

Prok, Sev looks a little like my boy cat Mingus.

The toilet at work developed a leak. Plumber ( who is gorgeous) and nearly young enough to be my son ) has ben and fixed it. Now I have to sort new flooring sigh
I hate my job.

secretbookcase · 04/11/2021 23:13

Loved this thread a while ago and didn't realise it was still going.

New sofa arrived today. DH and I dismantled the old one which was falling apart, so he could fit it in the car to take to the tip. I then covered the new sofa in throws to protect it from DCat's claws and fur shedding so it now looks exactly like the old one which was covered in throws to disguise its decrepitude.

Also, in honour of its arrival I not only mopped but waxed all the floors downstairs.

He is SO beautiful.

I went through more boxes of stuff today, getting rid of old papers because tomorrow DH is taking several tons (or so it feels) to a place that shreds confidential documents. I could do it at home but it would take weeks, if not months, with our home shredder. Years worth of old bank statements and payslips will finally be gone. Hurrah.

I’ve been trying to get my flu jab and it’s turning into a slight farce. GP says wait to be called in. I haven’t yet been called, though DH has. I got fed up and booked a jab at Boots last week. As I was about to leave the house to have it, they texted to cancel it. I’ve booked another but then got a text from the NHS telling me to ring my GP to book a flu jab. So I did, only to hear a recorded message saying ‘check our website for info’. It still says ‘wait to be called in’.
Today, another text, this time from the GP, saying I might have had a text from the NHS about my flu jab (yeeeeeesssss...?) and I can either wait to be called when they have more vaccine stock in (so I assume they’ve run out) or get jabbed at a pharmacy instead.

I have the feeling I might end up not getting a flu jab at all at this rate.

Lying in bed with awful reflux. Wondering if it's worth while getting up for gaviscon. I know it is and I know I'm wasting time contemplating it. Not news, but it's happening.
