My apologies, Prok, I just remembered that you are in Berlin, not Munich. The news coverage said that this type of incident involving munitions left over from the war is fairly common in most German cities.

Silkieschickens · 02/12/2021 02:08

I thought Prok would have world class hearing to hear a bomb in Munich from Berlin. Smile

Hope all your work is finished now Lunar I've just spent an hour working as the Australian professor keeps messaging me - he was asking for my biography to add to a proposal he is sending. That is the second big project he has sent me in 24 hours after I told him I would not be able to do much work as will be in treatment but its fascinating work so happy about it. And it cheered me up after being quite tearful about the lack of pink chair for after operation. They do have another reclining chair but it looks like the sort of chair you buy before you die in it.

Tomorrow I have a call with Oz and parents evening plus an econometric model to work out.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/12/2021 09:16

Those bombs (Blindgänger) are so frequent, that whenever building / construction work is done we have to inform the 'Kampfmittelräumdienst' (those daring guys who look for these things and dispose of them) to search the ground. Occasionally whole streets are evacuated when the bomb is not safe to be transported.
For example 95% of my hometown was reduced to rubble so you can imagine how frequent those findings still are.

Acornsandleaves · 02/12/2021 13:20

That's interesting Prok I had no idea there were still so many bombs lurking

I hope you manage to find a suitable recliner Silkie. I love the penguin. We're going to put our Christmas decorations up this weekend and I really need to get on with some Christmas shopping!

Silkieschickens · 02/12/2021 21:07

Thanks Acorns We also need to put Christmas decs up soon though need to give downstairs a clean first. I have ordered a light up robin to be a friend to the light up penguin. Got DDs mock grades and assessed grades and parents eveningand have a call with Oz at 10.30pm to discuss an econometric model.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/12/2021 21:27

DD has baked brownies and DS delivered a monologue on Mincraft, a you tuber and the creative use of Spanish phrasebook sentences from behind the door.
My GP mailed they want to wait another 5 days before they test me again. I'll phone health authorities tomorrow and ask what I should do now.
And here is what I see from my window when I climb a chair and get on tiptoes:

Lovely sky, Prok - it must be beyond frustrating that you can't get outside for a walk Sad

My DSis was telling me that she lusts after a garment called an Oodie for Christmas (it's basically a giant fleece blanket that you can wear) and when I looked it up, they're dauntingly expensive. So I found a free sewing pattern and have sent off for two lots of super-soft fleece (for the outside and the lining) to make one for her instead.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/12/2021 23:01

Hilda that is a great idea!!!
I have still got the blanket I can close with a zip and some buttons I spent the winter in writing about modal verbs for my MA when I was young.

(Find your way through that sentence Smile )

HildaTablet · 02/12/2021 23:14

The pattern I found says not to share it so I won't link. But it's quite easily findable Grin I'm quite looking forward to hauling my sewing machine out of retirement.

Silkieschickens · 02/12/2021 23:53

I just had my call with Australia, I logged on quickly and its the same system as my son uses for school so I appeared under his name and a fluffy silkie chicken meeting the guy I am working with for first time on this report and model, one of the professors staff. Thankfully he laughed and said he had same issue before and appeared under his DDs name and a unicorn.

Lemonsandlemonade · 03/12/2021 04:50

@Silkieschickens I can better you with the name thing! I once ( when we first started using teams) forgot to turn my microphone off at a meeting. I was having a drink of Pepsi at the time and let out a terribly loud burp! Was a tad embarrassing!!!!!

@HildaTablet that sounds lovely. Wish I could sow.

Busy day yesterday DS was 6 months… DH had day off. We went to seaside town for lunch and a lovely family day. Aside from some pictures we got pressies done. Put Christmas tree up last night as a surprise for DS. Wonder what he will make of it.

Work today am tired already!

HelenaJustina · 03/12/2021 06:15

lemons what a lovely day/way to celebrate! I’m very envious of anyone who is within striking distance of the coast. We are about as far inland as you can get in the UK and although I love where we live, I’d love to be closer to the sea.

prok it’s interesting. Here you are automatically released back into the wild after your 10 days are up (unless you still have a temperature or are very unwell). They recommend that you do not do another PCR test for 90 days as it may pick up fragments of the old infection.

Silkieschickens · 03/12/2021 06:23

That sounds a lovely day Lemons I remember my DS being fascinated by the lights at Christmas time at that age, be lovely to have your first Christmas together.

Have to go to hospital this morning to get results of CT to see if spread to bones etc and MRI of breast for surgery. DH will drive me there and back and I am hoping he will have time to collect my click and collect orders from Dunelm including Christmas light up robin and Christmas light up penguin.

Lemonsandlemonade · 03/12/2021 06:37

@Silkieschickens he does love the lights in the garden centre. Sending positive vibes to you for your results/ scan.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus in Uk so long as you’ve not got raging temperature etc still you are let loose after 10 days.

@HelenaJustina I have to say I love where I live but you have to drive everywhere. Nearest place with a cinema for example is 25 mins a drive away. This is to an independent cinema. The multiplex is at least 45 mins away.

Nydj · 03/12/2021 08:19

Bit of a grey morning here today. I am going out later this morning and hoping that weather gets warmer by then.

@Silkieschickens, I hope things go ok for the hospital appointment(s) today and you have a clear idea of the plan by the end of it. I googled the pink recliner from
IKEA in case the one near us had any in stock - it doesn’t, but the website said that there was one in the Tottenham(Enfield) one. Is that where your DH tried the other day?

@Lemonsandlemonade, happy half year birthday to your DS for yesterday and I too am envious of anyone living near the sea but not of living miles from any other conveniences.
We may have a pizza delivery this evening - it’s something we promised ourselves a while back but keep putting off for various reasons.

sueelleker · 03/12/2021 08:33

@Prok, I think a comma after the "in" would help.Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/12/2021 09:20

sue Oh yes, punctuation!

@Lemonsandlemonade and @HelenaJustina
I think they want your levels to be below a certain limit - but no release from isolation without a negative test. And it has to be an official one (where you don't handle the test yourself).
So I have to book a test, tell them that I am 'dangerous' in advance and see what happens.

We had frost tonight!

DoctorTwo · 03/12/2021 11:23

I ent to a smallish Midland ton yesterday and they had a pie and mash shop. I had pie, mash and gravy. Lovely it was too.

Silkieschickens · 03/12/2021 12:48

Just back from hospital, unfortunately ct showed a mass on adrenal gland as well which they said could be stage 4 and incurable, something on lung but they think that is just scarring, bones have another condition but not cancer. So another ct for adrenal cancer check. So that will be very soon, if is has spread it wont be surgery but they have booked surgery incase it is benign. Sad

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/12/2021 12:56

Silkie Verd..... K...!

MissConductUS · 03/12/2021 14:02

Silkie, I'm so sorry about your scan results. Are they going to scan the adrenal gland again?

Flowers
OP posts:
Silkieschickens · 03/12/2021 14:16

Yes last CT was from neck to pelvis, not sure its name, next one is just adrenal glands. They have sent through what ct found in words but no idea what chance there is. I had a CT 4 or 5 years ago which also showed an enlarged adrenal gland on other side, sent to GP with instructions he should monitor and he refused. Need an adrenal expert really though presumably CT will go to one.

I was suspicious when I went in as they said we have an extra doctor in as well. It says 33x25 mm left adrenal mass, indeterminate but metastasis is a possibility; further evaluation with adrenal CT or MRI is recommended.

MissConductUS · 03/12/2021 15:00

I suspect they'll want to biopsy the mass. I'm a little surprised they didn't while you were there.

Nydj · 03/12/2021 16:14

Oh @silkies, no words, just gentle hugs xx

IWanderedLonely · 03/12/2021 17:55

Just catching up. Silkie Flowers. I can't find the right words.
