I enjoyed that a lot, math - then realised it was a duo of the distinguished composer William Bolcom and his wife, the mezzo-soprano Joan Morris, which made it extra-enjoyable Grin

Bolcom's 'Graceful Ghost' rag is a beautiful piece, if anyone fancies checking it out.

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 15/11/2021 09:29

Struggling to get going today. Everything feels like such an effort at the minute. I’m waiting on a call from occupational health to see how I can get back to work before my MED3 certificate runs out. As I was blue- lighted to resus my employer doesn’t want me back without consultation before the note runs out but more time off sick will put me so far behind on my deadlines. Going to try to keep calm and get some shopping in for the week. We have no fruit or fresh ingredients in at all apart from some humus and cheese so I think I need to up my shopping game.

Sitting at the dentist waiting to be called in

Lemonsandlemonade · 15/11/2021 11:53

Saw pharmacists who prescribed DS eye drops for his eye. Waited an hour but a much more pleasant experience than ringing doctor.

MissConductUS · 15/11/2021 12:20

Welcome back, @DisgraceToTheYChromosome. I'm glad you found the new thread. Smile

I'm at home waiting to go to an appointment for a cardiac stress test. I was supposed to have it last summer but had to postpone it due to my hip surgery in July. The office is 30 minutes away, and in the opposite direction from work, so I'll be in late.

Nydj · 15/11/2021 13:25

That alpaca biscuit looks adorable!

Good luck at the dentist Prok and at with heart stress test Miss.

I hope they sort out your certification gets sorted out and work are understanding if you can’t meet any deadlines, Wolves. It must have been scary to have been blue lighted.

My friend is not well so no lunch with her today. I have had two little fairy cakes, a small baked potato and a slice of tiger bread with butter and peanut butter. Must stop eating now.

Lemonsandlemonade · 15/11/2021 14:38

@Silkieschickens so glad your DH work been very supportive and flexible.

@MissConductUS good luck with heart check. @Prokupatuscrakedatus good luck with dentist .

HelenaJustina · 15/11/2021 15:35

I have eaten so much cake today. A colleague who is a keen and excellent baker brought in lots of different homemade cakes in celebration of her birthday. I need to go for a run…

Lemonsandlemonade · 15/11/2021 16:01

@HelenaJustina is there such thing as too much cake? 😉

Doing an impromptu Keep In Touch day in work tomorrow due to staffing shortage. I’m feeling quite nervous. Am leaving DS for first full day tomorrow.

HelenaJustina · 15/11/2021 16:15

Good luck @Lemonsandlemonade ! Hope it goes smoothly.

MissConductUS · 15/11/2021 16:27

Lemons, who is going to be watching DS tomorrow?

The cardiac stress test was normal, but they were running 15 minutes late and parking was a struggle. I'm pleased about the normal part though. Smile

Good luck with the KIT day tomorrow, @Lemonsandlemonade.

I managed to stop eating for a couple of hours this afternoon so that was good. Will start up again in an hour or two.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/11/2021 17:53

DH came home with 4,5 kg of ripe bio limes (Limetten) for 2 € - I will definitely try those biscuits now.

The crowns matched beautifully and sat great, but the dentist did not like my bite (when I was a child I would have needed a type of brace that was not invented yet), so she is going to have this fixed and I'll get the permanents tomorrow evening ar 19:15 h.

Acornsandleaves · 15/11/2021 17:54

Hope tomorrow goes well lemons, it's so nerve wracking leaving them at first but I'm sure DS and you will be fine. Who will be looking after him?

Lemonsandlemonade · 15/11/2021 18:47

My DM is looking after him and MIL is doing an hour in the middle when my DM has a teams meeting. I know he will be fine and it’s good for him.

It’s going to be weird as am working with my maternity cover not the staff I know.

DS had a bit of food day today small amount of wheatabix this morning swede and cauliflower purée for lunch and tiny bits of pasta with tomato sauce for dinner.

@MissConductUS

Welcome, *@lunarlandscape*, and thanks for sharing your weekend news. I have already started my Christmas present shopping but will hold off on decorating and listening to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. One holiday at a time is all I can handle. 😊
Thank you for the welcome @MissConductUS

Thanksgiving is a wonderful barrier to Christmas starting too early in US. We don't have anything similar in UK to put the brakes on. (My neighbour's Chiristmas lights are already up and on! They do look lovely though, twinkling from the home office in their garden.) Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving. It's on my bucket list to celebrate it one day.

Today I made the Christmas cake, two Christmas puddings, a big vat of carrot and ginger soup and a big macaroni cheese. We're decorating the living room this week, so need some ready food. Also went for a walk with an old friend into the next village for coffee and a big catch up. And cleared all the furniture out of the living room ready to paint it.

Thank you for suggesting 'Graceful Ghost' @HildaTablet. Just listening to it and it is beautiful.

I've been listening to . Worth a listen if you like jazz piano.

Yes - I have relatives over from the UK and one of them was very surprised there was no Christmas wrapping paper for sale in the shops yet.

They've already put Christmas goods out for sale at BJ's Wholesale Club, including wrapping paper. Home Depot has artificial trees out already.

So it appears the barrier is permeable. I buy wrapping paper the day after Christmas for 70% off and put it in the basement until I need it the following year.

There's Christmas music playing on a loop on a certain radio station in my area. They have ten songs, it seems. I have several Spotify Christmas playlists which I play instead when the fancy takes me.

Lemons thinking of you today. It must be reassuring that your DM and MIL are able to take care of DS.

Lemonsandlemonade · 16/11/2021 17:28

Today went fine was lovely seeing DS at end of day. DM and MIL had super time.

HelenaJustina · 16/11/2021 17:58

So glad it went smoothly

Echobelly · 16/11/2021 18:03

I bought a nice scented candle that smells of honey and vanilla and it turned out to be half price when I got it to the till. I also found on the table of 'books in return for charity donation' a copy of Carrie Fisher's 'Surrender the Pink', which I'd like to read, so I bought it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/11/2021 18:40

The Christmas markets are already open, but compared to previous years they have toned it down in shops to a sensible level.

But Advent and Christmas are traditionally quieter times.
