Writing an assignment and I can't find a word

Hi all

Almost at the end of the assignment I'm writing. I'm currently stating an argument against a piece of research that only tested four people. I cannot for the life of me describe the group. I'm sure there is a collective Noun or a common phrase for this but my brain won't bring it.. anyone got a suggestion please?

Cohort?

Cohort? Sample?

Subjects?

Test subjects? Participants in the research? Guinea pigs? Case studies? Volunteers?

Quartet?

Negligible?

Test subjects? Focus group?

Cant you just say the sample size was too small?

If a board meeting had too few people to agree a decision you would say the meeting was not quorate, but I dont think that word would be suitable here.

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz honestly that sounds so logical now but ten minutes ago "sample size" was just not coming into my brain!!

I came on to say - me too. 😂 But then I saw you meant 'one' word, I am struggling to write at all!
