If someone handed you £100 tomorrow, and you had to spend it in a week, what would you buy?

A deposit for the work I need to get done in my flat.

PufferFishGoneWrong · 30/10/2021 22:28

I need to replace a broken Overlocker Grin

playmelikeasymphony · 30/10/2021 22:29

I just bought a new long cardi which I love. I’ve since discovered they do other colours (there was only pink in the shop) so I might buy a second in a different colour, buy a new perfume and then spend the rest in Waterstones.

Or get the train to London, go for a long wander on the southbank, have an overpriced cocktail, see a matinee of a show and then get a cheap but yummy dinner along the lines of McD’s before the train home.

‘I was just going to ask if OP was in Ni

So far I've used it in Dunnes and Boots blush really need to scale it down to the smaller companies somehow but finding it difficult.’

That makes me sad 😞. The money was to help small, local businesses. Lots of local grocers, butchers, cafes, bars, restaurants, hair salons etc who really need the business. Why are you finding it hard?

nixso29 · 30/10/2021 22:37

Im in NI and last week DH and I used our spend local card to go out for lunch and then had an afternoon in the Harp Bar! Was lovely and nice to have been able to spend it locally in some businesses that struggled due to the pandemic

TheChosenTwo · 30/10/2021 22:38

I’ve just spent it! On some new spin shoes/cleats Grin
Ugly but my last pair had just about had it, they had lasted me about 4 years though!

@nicky2512

I just did - in Northern Ireland so we were all given a £100 spend local gift card. I spent it on new boots!
Me too! Mine arrived today. I'm going to treat myself to a decent bra (or two). DH hasn't got his yet but is going to buy an amp for his guitar. We're trying to use small locally-owned businesses only.
Bloodybridget · 30/10/2021 22:47

OK, if I had to spend it on myself, I would try to overcome my natural frugality and get a few things: a very beautiful warm scarf even though I have a perfectly good one; a book of jigsawdoku puzzles; some nice bowls (to eat from).

rainforestfriend · 30/10/2021 22:52

NI here too..

£40 in my lovely friend's new waxing shop

£25 on a Mrs Tiggywinkle plush in my local tiny independent baby boutique

The rest will be spent on jam and chutney in St George's Market

We are very fortunate to not need the £100 so are able to spread the money around a little bit

jessyjo2 · 30/10/2021 22:53

Im in NI too. I have eyed up a lovely jacket on River Island on line. If dont have it in local shop i will buy a gift voucher from them and order on line.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 30/10/2021 22:55

I'm in NI and hoping mine arrives soon! I'm definitely spending it locally. I'm already eyeing up a beautiful picture by a local artist that I spotted yesterday. I'm also planning a lunch date with my friend that I haven't seen in s as ages.

Nearlytheretrees · 30/10/2021 22:55

A piece of art work I've seen and love but can't justify the £90 price tag with Christmas coming up

But that won’t help local businesses. Could you not try and find something in a local independent retailer?
Maskless · 30/10/2021 23:19

£100 worth of smoked salmon, fresh salmon, jumbo prawns and a leg of lamb.

seriousandloyal · 30/10/2021 23:20

Perfume

StTherese · 30/10/2021 23:22

Some really nice knitting yarn for a patchwork blanket.

PermanentTemporary · 30/10/2021 23:22

Getting my hair dyed.

Or swim and lunch package for 2 at the local lido.

Animood · 30/10/2021 23:37

I'd invest it, so I'd buy shares.

jessyjo2 · 30/10/2021 23:49

Yes I get your point. I will maybe try spend it in independent store. Actually so few non chain stores (except) restaurants in my area.

amsadandconfused · 30/10/2021 23:56

Clinique facial moistereriser and sketchers walking shoes and toy for my doggie!

What about treating yourself to a couple of meals out?

I put mine towards a picture by a local artist, bought in a local gallery. It was expensive and they gave me an extra discount beciase I sued he card. I wouldn’t have bought it otherwise.

I know friends who have had meals out in local places, or Christmas decorations at the garden centre. A friend used some of hers in the local butcher and green grocers and made her family a fancy meal.

Hairdressers should take it if they have a machine - you could have a make over.

I know someone who put it towards a night in a hotel.

Would be great to see local businesses being helped it by this.

RussianSpy101 · 31/10/2021 00:15

More skincare.

TSSDNCOP · 31/10/2021 01:05

A bottle of Jo Malone Grapefruit and two bottles of wine from the Co Op that I like

Solo · 31/10/2021 01:08

Groceries.

ConsuelaHammock · 31/10/2021 01:40

I’m in NI and have a £100 voucher to spend. I’m thinking of splitting it between Memento in Belfast and a local yarn/ craft shop.
A visit to In Klover is another possibility.
