Clock confusion - flight tomorrow HELP please!

BordelDeMerde · 30/10/2021 20:34

So, clocks are going back tonight.

I have a flight tomorrow morning. I need to get a 5.30 bus to make my flight and I need to get up at 4.30 to make the bus.

If I set the alarm on my phone for 4.30 now, will my phone wake me up at the new 4.30, I.e. current 5.30? Will it automatically recalibrate? Or do I need to set my phone for 3.30?

I know this should be really simple, but I'm confusing myself and I really don't want to miss my flight. (Or wake up any earlier than I have to either, tbh.)

Your phone will automatically update the time. But maybe use an old fashioned alarm clock as a back up.

BordelDeMerde · 30/10/2021 20:36

Wait...forget what I said about setting the phone for 3.30. That's nonsense, isn't it? Oh god. Confused

I'm away, unfortunately, and don't have an old-fashioned clock here with me.

The clocks go back meaning you won’t be late, if nothing changed you’d just be an hour early.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 30/10/2021 20:39

The official clock change time is at 2am (when it goes back to 1am), so you’re phone will change at that time and will wake you up at the correct time tmrw morning! Have a great holiday!

This. Your phone should update automatically unless you have time zone updates turned off and are in a country that doesn’t go back tonight - eg USA. Then there’s a small chance it might not update.

You will catch the flight, don’t worry. Are you somewhere with a TV or any other way of finding out the phone is indeed telling you the correct time, when you wake up? I always double check in the morning of the change even when I’m at home, for some reason Grin

BordelDeMerde · 30/10/2021 20:40

Ok, yes I've got it now. Worst case scenario is that I'm an hour early. That's ok.

Thank you both. Flowers

If the OP is away abroad this might be incorrect. Where I live it changes at 3am, other countries change it at different times.
TroysMammy · 30/10/2021 20:42

My phone never automatically changes the time even though the facility has been enabled.

BordelDeMerde · 30/10/2021 20:43

Oh more messages. Thank you all. Flowers

(I promise I'm not this dim normally, but a clock change and an early flight together are panicking me. )

I have an early flight tomorrow too and the same anxiety!

goingtotown · 30/10/2021 21:51

Use the timer on your phone instead of the alarm if you’re not sure.

BordelDeMerde · 31/10/2021 05:25

I am on the bus! GrinGrinGrin

Yay OP.

BertiesShoes · 31/10/2021 06:04

Great that you caught the bus!

I think you might have been in Ireland visiting relatives, think you posted on an earlier travel thread.

I am also flying home from Dublin today after visiting relatives, but fortunately not until this evening so catching an afternoon bus!

I am awake early due to clock change but can’t be helped!

Safe travelling.

This is a genius idea! Smile

Well done OP!!!! I think we have similar brains. Enjoy your trip.

Dollywilde · 31/10/2021 07:46

Yes - was going to say when my brain is fried due to time zones I tend to set the alarm for (e.g) 5 hours rather than a particular clock time Grin

Glad you made your bus OP!!
