Never had this happen before. Have they moved Halloween? Small dressed up child with adult in tow. Yes my house is decorated but pumpkin not lit as it is not Halloween yet!

I moved to an absolute shithole last year and I didn’t realise what it would be like on Halloween.

Groups of teenagers and young people roaming around, banging on doors until midnight demanding money. We didn’t open the door last year and it was egged, next door warned us to bring and plant pots in as they would get smashed or thrown.

When she warned us last year she said it was like the fucking purge films.

Constant banging on the door last night for 30 mins. Honestly contemplating booking us into the travelodge up the road tonight.

I lived in london most of my life before having to come here, never known anything like it Sad

Yes, I'm going to be THAT person.

I dread this time of year. Fortunately most of the neighbourhood children now know not to knock on my door.

It's infuriating. It ruins my evening and distresses my dog.

I'll be laying the child traps later just in case though, and refreshing my lecture about the dangers of accepting sweets from strangers and how wrong it is to demand money ( or sweets) with menaces.

Joking aside though, do bear in mind some people really, really don't appreciate this 'fun'.

Sorry to hear that siri. My tormentors are all fairly young and accompanied by parents for the most part. It's still an absolute pain.

Hoping the heavens open later.

It’s just shit because I love halloween, so do my children. Where weaved before it was wonderful, all the children out, the rule of no knocking unless the house was decorated.

Here it’s like the wild west. No little children out, just groups of teens being intimidating (as always, but they don’t tend to knock on doors unless it’s halloween).

Weather is foul here tonight. Hope it's equally grim everywhere that you'd rather not have trick or treaters!

Words · 31/10/2021 18:13

It certainly is here as well. No knocking AT ALL so far, so my quiet evening with cat on lap, log fire and Radio 3 is proceeding smoothly.Grin

BadlyFormedQuestion · 31/10/2021 18:17

It’s been busy here with trick or treaters. We are nearly out of sweets already.

Words · 31/10/2021 18:26

In fact @Beamur I think we might be in the same neck of the woods, so to speak...

Beamur · 31/10/2021 18:34

The weather hasn't put them off! We've had a steady stream of soggy werewolves and zombies for the last hour!
