Does anyone have a large load washing machine?

Hello. I have a 10kg washing machine, which is great because I have so much laundry to do. I've asked for advice before about my washing not really smelling of anything. I've now discovered it does, but only if I do a small load. This is taking me so much longer though.

I know now everyone likes their laundry to smell, but I do. The fabric softener compartment isn't any bigger to accommodate the larger load, l. wondered, if you have a larger load washer, what and how much detergent / softener do you use, please? Or is it just an amount vs pleasant smell compromise?

I have a 12kg one , don’t use fabric conditioner but the laundry smells clean and fresh

9kg here. I don't use softener either and washing smells fine
I use soda crystals in the soap dispenser and 30C washes. I notice if I use 40C it doesn't seem to smell as fresh.
Smalls better when lime dried, but usually dry on an airer in the house now and still smells fine.
