How have I not watched this before?

Currently watching on Britbox. Proper laugh out loud funny!! Love Martin always doing jobs with no shirt on. And Jim from next door! Just brilliant.

Any other fans?

@Phyllis321

Martin’s medical-based eulogy for his uncle is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen Grin
And made even funnier by Jim's black balloons 😂😂😂

Oh god how could I forget Horrible Grandma 😂😂 I think she is my 2nd favourite character ever.

When she pushes cabinets over 😂😂 "it just fell over!!"

@Thecomfortador

We started watching this recently - I don't know why they just don't answer the door! They must know by now that it won't end well. But yes poor Martin, he played a very different role in Chernobyl, was shocked that he died so young.
Yes, that would make a brilliant show! GrinWink

I love Wilson. The best boy in the world. (Especially when drunk!)

jiggeryjaggerywoo · 29/10/2021 11:26

FND is one of the funniest shows ever made, it's just wonderful. Paul Ritter dying was just heartbreaking.
My kids have never seen it but maybe now is the time? They're 10 and 12. The youngest always seemed a bit young for it before but 10 is fine, isn't it?

MoonriseKingdom · 29/10/2021 11:40

I love this so much. Especially Mr Morris.
There’s not many shows that capture those little quirks/ habits/ sayings you fall into as a family so well. There’s never a moment wasted in any episode.

RaraRachael · 29/10/2021 11:50

I was introduced to it by my kids and we all quote it regularly - greeting each other with "Shalom" and having crimble crumble. My OH just doesn't get it at all, but he's into US comedies which I don't find funny at all.

I particularly like the episodes with Mr Morris and The Mouse and The Fox are other favourites. I felt Jim was given too much prominence in later series and tbh we didn't find the last two series very funny at all.

Chaletschooltriplet · 29/10/2021 12:10

There's so much blood..... Jim it's paint..... There's so much paint....

But my favourite is when nice grandma gets locked in the boot of Adam's car and Jim tells them he knows a locksmith. So they go round to his house to find out he is actually a town planner and Martin utters the immortal words. 'Why aren't you a shitting locksmith?' Grin

madnessitellyou · 29/10/2021 12:17

Tell me it's not oil paint tell me it's not oil paint.

Okay, it's not oil paint.

trumpisagit · 29/10/2021 12:42

We all love Friday Night Dinner.
The Caravan is my favourite episode, but the fox and Mercedes are also brilliant. As is the cast and script generally.
DS2 has watched all episodes repeatedly. His favourite is The Date.

Glad to find some fellow fans! I can see myself re-watching this many many times.

Jackie is brilliant - just the looks she gives to Martin as in 'what the fuck are you doing?' Grin
