How have I not watched this before?

Currently watching on Britbox. Proper laugh out loud funny!! Love Martin always doing jobs with no shirt on. And Jim from next door! Just brilliant.

Any other fans?

Yes! We love it in our house. DD2 does a mean ‘Jackieeeee’ impression. So sad to hear that the actor who plays Jim died recently.

bendmeoverbackwards · 29/10/2021 09:07

Oh I didn’t know that @WiseWitch he must have been young 😢

Us too. Binge watched the entire series during lockdown 1. We were both upset when Paul “Martin” Ritter died earlier this year

Theuniverseandeverything · 29/10/2021 09:10

It’s brilliant. (I don’t think Jim died.)

bendmeoverbackwards · 29/10/2021 09:11

Nice bit of squirrel 😂😂

I love FND, I’m so sad there’ll be no more. Paul Ritter was brilliant.

Thecomfortador · 29/10/2021 09:11

We started watching this recently - I don't know why they just don't answer the door! They must know by now that it won't end well. But yes poor Martin, he played a very different role in Chernobyl, was shocked that he died so young.

antsinyourpanta · 29/10/2021 09:12

We discovered it in lockdown and its one thing the whole family found hilarious (despite being inappropriate for DSBlush)
Weve adopted lots of catchphrases from there.
DD says "aww poor bobble" to DS which he hates!

Unbelievably sad about Paul Rutter

antsinyourpanta · 29/10/2021 09:12

*Ritter

WiseWitch · 29/10/2021 09:13

I know :( he was.

Have you also watched Cuckoo With Helen Baxendale and Greg Davies? Hilarious. (The link being they’re both family favourites introduced to us by our older teen DC)

QOD · 29/10/2021 09:13

Hello Jackie!!!

2 Jackie’s?

Dd and I say quotes endlessly 😂

When it first came out I guess I didn’t ‘get’ it. Same story week after week. Piss face and puss face but we got really into it a couple of years ago

Also Gavin and Stacey. I’d never watched it!! It’s hilarious and the same childish humour

Flutteringby · 29/10/2021 09:14

It is absolutely comedy gold. We love watching it as a family (2 adults, 2 teens).. My youngest does a mean Jim impression 😅 ..Shalommmmm 😅

FlorenceNightshade · 29/10/2021 09:15

Horrible grandma is my favourite! Was sad when she passed away this year too!

bendmeoverbackwards · 29/10/2021 09:15

When Jim gives Adam a basket of green fruit 😂😂😂

We have the cream tea now?

TheVolturi · 29/10/2021 09:16

FND is amazing, was so sad when Paul Ritter died. We have watched them over and over and they're still great!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 29/10/2021 09:17

I love the Mercedes one.

"We took her in the Mercedes, and you know the Mercedes is a very fast car, a very fast car the Mercedes."

Dilbertian · 29/10/2021 09:18

It is sheer genius!

The first series is my absolute favourite.

ChequerBoard · 29/10/2021 09:18

@bendmeoverbackwards

Oh I didn’t know that *@WiseWitch* he must have been young 😢

Jim (Mark Heap) is alive and well. Sadly it was Martin (Paul Ritter) that died in April this year.

Love Friday Night Dinner, one of the very best comedy shows in recent years.

SirensofTitan · 29/10/2021 09:21

It's quite nice to see someone discovering something that's been part of mine and my DCs sayings for 10 years but also a bit funny in a way that people have just realised it exists Grin

CrumpleHornedSnowcack · 29/10/2021 09:22

shit on it is a well used phrase in my house

maras2 · 29/10/2021 09:37

Love nice Grandma's boyfriend Mr Morris calling people who piss him off, 'Punk Rockers'. Halloween Grin

bendmeoverbackwards · 29/10/2021 09:38

Just looked up Paul Ritter, so young, that’s heartbreaking ☹️

My 7 year old was learning about Judaism at school this half term and her teacher commented that we obviously watched FND in our house so I dread to think what she’d been telling them.
