And is it suitable for a pre-schooler?

Thanks

Yes. It's not that good though.

Bosslady2 · 28/10/2021 22:15

Thanks @gingercatsparky

It’s the feature film at our local cinema’s weekend kids screening & I bought tickets but DH is concerned it’s a PG and doesn’t want to take DD (age 3.5). So looking for opinions. I’m not concerned whether the film is good - it’s DD’s first cinema experience so we are more going for the experience than anything else & I expect her to want to leave before the end anyway Grin

No, I took a 6 year old yesterday and they didn’t enjoy it. There’s quite a complicated story line.

Bosslady2 · 29/10/2021 08:08

Thanks @Pearbear

Is there anything offensive it that would upset a pre-schooler? I’ve already paid for the tickets unfortunately

Nothing offensive but as pp said the storyline is slightly complicated, my two 8 and 10 enjoyed it but not as much as the first one. It will be fine for first cinema experience especially if you’re half expecting to leave early anyway . Hope you enjoy !

Bosslady2 · 29/10/2021 08:51

Thanks @Timeflyin

DH seems to think it will be completely inappropriate, but my view was it’s a kids film so although DD may not follow the plot surely it won’t traumatise her or be seriously offensive. Just want to make sure it won’t upset DD. Not too concerned whether she follows the plot

We saw it yesterday- my son is 9 but has learning disabilities so is much like a 6 year old. He really enjoyed it but it wasn’t as funny as he thought it would be, it has quite an adult storyline about the brothers coming back together.

There’s a website called common sense media which tells you about anything perilous, offensive etc in films, TV shows, video games etc. I find it pretty Pearl-clutching and the “suggested ages” for which things are appropriate a bit older than is realistic but if you apply what they say to your own child and their sensitivities then it can be helpful.

LillyBugg · 29/10/2021 09:08

I took my 7 and 4 year old to see it. It sure they understood the whole plot but they loved it.

Not sure how your DH has reached the conclusion that PG must immediately mean offensive?! Maybe he needs to do some research on what these certificates mean. Otherwise you're going to have this for years to come. Loads of kids film have a PG rating for various reasons.

ferneytorro · 29/10/2021 09:26

The IMDB website will give you this detail ie plot, any profanity and which words and how many times , details of any threat or peril, any references to sex or any nudity and details of what body parts are nude, any upsetting scenes. Can’t imagine much of that in boss baby though. I thought we may fancy it but, having seen the Addams family sequel which was awful I’m currently not risking another sequel.

Bosslady2 · 29/10/2021 09:41

Thanks I think maybe the IMDB website or similar has put DH off

Which is why I was keen to chat to people who have actually seen the film and are parents of young kids themselves

Kids In Mind is a useful website which breaks down contents of a film and suitability.

It even has counts of numbers of 'bad' words or what percentage of boys parts are showing

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 29/10/2021 10:56

We went to see it a few days ago, I did nap off for about 15 minutes but apart from that there’s nothing in it that would upset a 3yr old.

SuperDuperJezebel · 29/10/2021 13:01

I took my DD last weekend, she's 4 and absolutely loved it.
