Do hospital patients still have to isolate

If they have been a contact of a positive covid case?

An elderly relative was due to be discharged this week but suddenly they have been moved to a private room and told they will not be discharged for ten days for isolation. They have no symptoms and no positive test. They were just on the same ward as a patient who is positive.

I thought guidelines said contacts no longer had to isolate unless they had symptoms or they also tested positive? Why is it different in hospital?

Is she being discharged to a care home or to her own home?

Guidelines are different in a hospital or care home, because we don't want to be firefighting a covid outbreak among vulnerable patients/residents.

Discharge would have been to her own home
