How to decide if I should accept or decline new job

I’ve been offered a new job. I don’t know what’s holding me back.

New job is slightly more hours for a little more pay. Down on annual leave as current job gives me more for length of service which is over 10 years. Same commute time.

I think I’m scared of going from a job where I have security to something with a 6 month probation period. Current job has great people and a good atmosphere but shit management. Job offer is for a firm who have just taken over a branch so it needs developing. How do you decide what to do?

They can’t. I’m at the top end. It’s pretty much the max id likely get anywhere.

I wouldn't risk it for a lateral move. The devil you know, etc.

remind yourself why you applied in the first place - progression, new challenge, getting away from your current bad management?

Are you happy in your current job? I definitely wouldn’t move for what sounds like the same hourly rate and less holiday unless I was escaping something.

I wouldn't move for a lateral move like that.

Keep looking.

What's the advantages of the new job? From what you say it seems like risk for no reward.
