Has your house ever been on a property show?

Just watching Location, Location, Location and wondering whether anyone has ever seen a house they used to live in on there (or another property show). Like, presumably if they're looking round a house they would tell the current owners that it'll be on tv, but any past owners would get a surprise when it popped up on screen!

If you have, was it weird to see people walking round "your" house? Had it changed much since you sold it? Did they make any comments on anything you had decorated etc?

Have wondered about this too!

I always imagine watching it and then suddenly seeing your old house on there and them slagging it off!

Mine has, one of the first seasons of a Place in the Sun. The couple viewed it just before us but chose not to buy it, fortunately for me. I've been here 20 years and love it. Sometimes it comes up on very old repeats but not as much as it used to.

All my previous houses bar two have been demolished and now are part of a housing estate of smaller properties. But I have seen one of the new, tiny properties on a TV programme, not a property programme. The brick wall at the side of their garden we lived the other side of!

My mum's was on Escape to the Country. Her neighbour's house was the featured house though, Mum's just made a cameo appearance Grin

Ours was on Location, Location, Location. Kirsty and Phil hadn't found somewhere the family liked. The family then found our house, so then it was included and filmed. They did complain about it a lot, which was tough to hear. But they're still living there 15 years later!

Blurp · 28/10/2021 21:59

Oh @LubaLuca - did you know it was going to be featured?

Yes, my mum went out and chatted to the crew and the couple that was looking to move to the country. They had no intention of buying the neighbour's house, but it is quite interesting/unique so it made a good 'mystery house'.

Oh, how exciting! Were you still living there at the time, or had you already sold it on?

No but my neighbours’ house was on Location Location Location once. The couple didn’t buy it and I felt quite defensive on the neighbours’ behalf, especially because their house was like our house but bigger and better decorated.

@Blurp we hadn't sold it, but my parents had moved up the country and I was living with friends. So it was vacant, but still ours. Didn't get to meet anyone or anything like that, sadly. So couldn't defend our choice of carpets, and decor!!

Aw, that's the worst! So it's still all your decor, but you can't defend yourself 😂
