Insuring DS as a learner on my car

Hi everyone. What’s the best way to go about my DS on my car as a learner driver. Do I add him to my insurance or do a separate search? It’s probably a stupid question but just not sure where to start!!

I added DC1 to mine. It was £80 for the year. It does rise slightly when the pass. In our case it's an extra £1700!

If you add a learner to your insurance and they have an accident then it can affect your no claims discount. The way round this is to use a standalone learner insurance. We used marmalade.

It was £75 extra for dd, she bought a car for when she passed and it was only £420 to insure, was very impressed

I insured dd on a different learner policy.

Was your dd 17/18 when she passed? That's amazingly low insurance.

My dd costs about £1700

DS had a separate learner policy, it is much easier to do for a shorter time and you avoid charges for changing your insurance. We used Veygo, but Marmalade is also good.

I used marmalade for mine which was based on my insurance but a stand alone product, you can choose different timescales.

Cookerhood · 27/10/2021 16:02

We've used both Veygo & Marmalade, both good.

It was £30 extra for us for the year. When she passed it shot up by £130 extra a month!
