Kids tablet

Not sure this is the best place to post this but couldn't see where might be better. I'm looking for recommendations for a kids tablet if anyone can help. I've recently had a five year old come into my care and I'm looking to get him a tablet for various things including homework. They use ipads in school it seems but I don't want to have to actually spend that much money. My kids didn't have things like that when they were younger so I've got zero idea on whats good. It'll mostly be used for some games and school work so will need to allow various apps and browsing, something kid friendly would be best and preferably not in the hundreds of pounds range. I'd be really grateful if anyone can recommend something or even give me a good idea of where to look. Thank you.

This thread is a little old now, but if you’ve landed here looking for a kids' tablet, we’ve recently updated our best tablets for kids page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users and their children. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

We've got 2 Amazon fire tablets that we've wiped so they're just stock android now. They can do everything you suggest and I think they were about £60 on prime day.

Alternatively I'd go for something like a Samsung tablet, basically anything android.

Amazon fire kids, they come with a kid proof case and have great parental controls, and a subscription to Amazon kids.

They cost from £99 but if you wait a couple of weeks there might be a Black Friday deal to be had.

Thank you for the responses, the fire was one I thought about but I wasn't sure it'd have access to the apps he needed for school. Did you find they had a good selection of apps?
