Have you ever lived close to a sweage treatment works?

Just wondering if anyone has lived fairly close to a sewage works and how did you find it?

We currently live about 700m away from a sewage works and used to get a waft every now and then but the past 3/4 years have smelt nothing unless we walk directly past it.

Looking to move and there's a new development being built but 300m away is a sewage works... just wondering if this is too close to consider this house (it's v attractive in other ways, detached and a very big garden).

Just looking for any experiences any one has?

I wouldn't live closer than I currently do, which is about as far away as you are now.

But lots depends on wind direction. I'd go and sit in my car with a coffee and a book for a few hours at different times of the week.

I used to live just over the hedge from one. It really stank sometimes.
I’d get on the local Facebook / Nextdoor group and see what people say, as well as going there and sniffing at different times.

There are lots of flats being built across the road from the sewage works, and the local tip. I do wonder if they will sell, or if people wont realise if they view on a day the winds blowing away !
