Christmas and abbreviations

Hey all.

Anyone else nearly finished their Christmas shopping? Just me? Ugh. I have to be organised or it throws my anxiety seriously out of whack.

My husband thinks I'm nuts and more than a little anal!

Please tell me I'm not the only one and that there are like minded mums out there who have either finished, nearly finished, or have even started!

Also, can someone tell me what the abbreviations stand for in here? Dd, ds that sort of thing!

Thanks xx

I don't do any Christmas shopping till mid Dec.

DD is dear daughter (DD1 is daughter no. 1, Dd2 is second daughter not 2yo daughter), dh is dear husband, Ds is dear son, Mil is mother in law, FIL father in law, SIL sister etc.

Then you get things like STBXH, LO etc (soon to be ex-husband, little one). Sometimes it takes less brain power for everyone just to write in full 😄

here you go OP

Re Xmas, I have started buying but feeling twitchy like I need to get a move on! Like to spread the cost and worry about delivery times etc.

I do all of my Christmas shopping on 23rd December. It didn't happen last year - bliss!

cuttlefishgame · 26/10/2021 18:37

I have started to make a mental list of presents to buy. Which reminds me, I specifically asked DH a week ago to tell MIL that (as an early Christmas present) we would buy her some new light fittings in her lounge she's just had decorated, and I don't think he did, because SIL has told me the electrician is arriving at MIL's tomorrow to fit some new lights.

Damn, as if she isn't hard enough to buy for as it is...

Finished mine for the next eleventh billion years.

(I don’t do any. It’s absolute bliss.)

Let him sort his mother out. Presumably he’s a functioning adult.

Have you looked at the Christmas board, OP? There are plenty of posters with their shopping well underway. It's a haven of Christmas chat all year round Halloween Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 26/10/2021 18:48

I've not given any thought to Xmas shopping, other than vaguely agreeing with DH on his choice of Xmas cards, and OKing the Waitrose order he's put in after consulting with our adult DD who'll be coming home. Oh, and he asked me to remind him what I wanted (telescopic pruning tool).

Time will tell whether I end up writing the cards, and I expect I'll cook the food. Except a lot of it is cheese.Grin
