Mince/tomato
Pasta
White sauce
Repeat

Buttercupmoon · 26/10/2021 17:00

Mince, then pasta, then white sauce, then pasta, then mince, then pasta, then white sauce, then pasta etc. Finish on white sauce and then sprinkle cheese

Did you know you can use raw mince or am I just late to that info ?

Crunchymum · 26/10/2021 17:02

The last layer shouldn't be mince.

SortCode · 26/10/2021 17:02

So the last layer is pasta sheets with white sauce and cheese???
My pasta sheets are dried so rock hard Smile

NinDS · 26/10/2021 17:03

@Buttercupmoon - exactly that!
You should have at least three layers of pasta!
One of my absolute favourite meals served with a crisp green salad and garlic bread.

KittenKong · 26/10/2021 17:04

You have to make sure the pasta is covered fully in the sauce.

I really want lasagne now

NinDS · 26/10/2021 17:04

@SortCode the pasta sheets will soften when cooking in the oven.

Hellocatshome · 26/10/2021 17:04

If you aren't using fresh pasta sheets best to pre boil them but be careful they don't stick together. The top is pasta, white sauce, cheese.

SallyOMalley · 26/10/2021 17:04

I always do mince, pasta, sauce, mince, pasta, sauce, then top with grated parmesan. Never had a problem with hard pasta.

SortCode · 26/10/2021 17:06

Right Im going for it!!!!

I hope you are joking! You need to actually brown the mince before you add anything else - tomato, onions, garlic, etc. Grey, flabby, barely-boiled mince... 🤢🤮

Wait .... what?! 😖
NinDS · 26/10/2021 17:08

No need to pre-boil hard pasta - check instructions but most can be cooked with no pre-boiling necessary. This is an ideal dish to make in advance too and to freeze, just let the mince cool before layering. 30-40 mins or until cheese bubbling and pasta softened in hot oven around 180. Enjoy!

ByeBumpHiBaby · 26/10/2021 17:12

I go...

Mince
Pasta
White sauce
Pasta
Mince
Pasta
White sauce
Pasta
Mince
Pasta
White sauce
Cheese

Lots of pasta Grin I also use dried pasta sheets but make sure there's a little extra liquid in my mince mix so it doesn't dry out as it cooks.

BluebellsGreenbells · 26/10/2021 17:13

The green pasta is softer when cooked

Bolognaise, white sauce, lasagne sheets.

Do this 3 times. Top with white sauce and grated cheese.

mrsm43s · 26/10/2021 17:16

I put a little bechemel in the bottom of the greased dish so that the pasta doesn't stick, and then start with a layer of pasta, as I find it stays together best if I do this.

I then go ragu, light layer of bechemel, pasta, and repeat until I'm nearly at the top. On the final layer of pasta, I then put a thick layer of bechemel and then put some parmesan on the top.

And no! I wouldn't be using raw mince! It's been long and slow cooked into a ragu first!

I prefer green pasta because it makes the lasagne look a bit less anaemic. But I've found it increasingly hard to get hold of in the last couple of years. I used to be able to buy it everywhere, then it only seemed to be in our local waitrose, and now not there either. It's not the same with yellow pasta!
stingofthebutterfly · 26/10/2021 17:29

Ensure the pasta is completely covered because it won't soften otherwise.

Mince at the bottom. White sauce, then cheese, on top.

SickAndTiredAgain · 26/10/2021 17:31

I do:
Mince
Pasta
Mince
Cheese sauce
Pasta
Mince
Cheese sauce
Cheese

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.
