Talk to me about table protection

We are about to finish our new kitchen. We are keeping our dining table, and moving it to be in the kitchen. I have a very old oilcloth on it for protection.

What do others use? Is there somewhere that sells oil clothes that are a bit more contemporary / tasteful?

I have an oil cloth on mine (and the thick heat protectant mat under it. Both from Dunelm. They have started carrying a bigger range of designs, some Orla likely type too.
