Insect ID help please

Any ideas what this bug is please that I found crawling across my kitchen floor like it owns the place?

It was about 5cm long and very hard to kill so I thought it might be some sort of cockroach but I thought they were a different shape.

Also is it likely to have friends hanging out somewhere in the house too?

Beetle. It's a lone warrior so don't worry about his palls. He has probably eaten them all, plus all the spiders. Whatever you do, don't kill him....

Thank you. He sounds like a beetle I would not want to piss off. There are still plenty of spiders in my house though so I guess that means he’s not been here long.

I have an irrational fear of crawly things even when I know what they are, and I was worried this one was poisonous or sting-y.

Is it a devils coach horse beetle?
