Switching from Art to Music GCSE after a term?

Has anyone got any experience of this? Dd would like to swap - she has done grade 1 flute and grade 4 singing and is very musical but I know there is more to GCSE Music. Thanks.

There is also a composition and essays on set pieces. In normal times I think they need to perform one solo and one ensemble, the ensemble was dropped due to covid but it would have been a duet with her piano teacher. Dd found though that the coursework required was a lot less than her friends who were doing Art.

I’m a secondary teacher and we wouldn’t let her swap after October half term. Missed too much!

It's only half a term, not a term. In my school it would depend on the student and if we thought they'd come to catch up sessions and do independent study on the unit missed. It's 6/7 weeks and she's got 18 months to catch it up.

I’m a secondary head of department and there is absolutely no way a swap would be allowed now. We say no after a week or two. Missed far far too much work.

Thanks everyone. Chocolate that's such a shame but I guess apart from anything else the school wouldn't want to set a precedent.
