Tesco clubcard

I’ve just got a new clubcard, I used a few years ago, lost the card and never bothered following up.
Reason being, I only shop in there occasionally, I thought it would be like a boots card where you can just accumulate points, but every few months it would clear my balance and send me vouchers I wouldn’t really use.
I never understood how people went on days out with clubcard points, as mine always reset to zero every few months.

Can someone please give me an idiots guide to stop this happening again, as I’m sure it’s maybe just a setting or something?

Otherwise how do people accumulate enough points?
I’ve tried to Google and I’m reading about triple points boosters, and I’m even more confused now to be honest!

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

If you download the app, the vouchers sit there in digital form and you can exchange them for vouchers for days out, restaurants, hotels etc

HazelandChacha · 25/10/2021 21:16

You need to save the vouchers and swap them for deals. The vouchers have, I think, 2 years date on them

Points convert to vouchers every few months.
the vouchers last for 2 years, which should be enough to save up.
It's the vouchers you spend on days out etc.

So if you earn 80 points this month and 40 points next month, they'll send you a voucher for £1 (100 points) and your points balance will reset to 20 and continue building as you spend.

The voucher is yours to spend as you like - you should either get them by post or electronically (app or website... but not just now, following their hack!)

You can set it up as a Christmas saver and then the vouchers are sent out once a year sometime in November

milcal · 25/10/2021 21:22

In the past I have used mine for days out, holidays, magazine subscriptions, meals out and more recently RAC membership.

Save them in the app and when you have enough look at the rewards and use them to treat yourself.

We usually save them and till we have enough for cinema tickets. They to the value, so £7 of vouchers becomes enough for 2 tickets at cineworld

Riiiight. Okay! so when I was just getting them through the post before, I didn’t realise you saved the vouchers! That makes so much more sense!
I always wondered why they reset the points!

On the app you’ll see your vouchers like this. Click the little arrow and you see the details. You can then order rewards on the app with the vouchers

See, I never had loads of vouchers, but I deffo had enough for something like this, just by getting the odd bits and bobs after work or a meal deal or something.

Hopefully I can just save the vouchers in the app now, and it’ll be easier.
I found I would accidentally bin the paper sometimes.

It took me ages to figure out to ignore the paper vouchers, they also used to do double your points on say, christmas presents so you could save money, but that's long gone now, the meals/days out are still good though!

I transfer mine to Virgin Air miles . In the past we have used them for Al Fresco holidays as you get 3 times the value on some partner offers .

Erictheavocado · 26/10/2021 07:08

I use mine on pots and pans from Denby - if you time it right you can use three x value of vouchers in their 50% sale! I've managed to buy around £300 of goods for about £80 of vouchers, plus £25 on postage. Also, you can get a three month subscription to Disney+ for £8 of vouchers.

H8H8H8 · 26/10/2021 07:12

I use mine to pay for my delivery saver every year. Means I essentially never pay for shopping deliveries even though I have them at peak times every week.

I’ve also used them for a Chunnel crossing.

Well worth getting your head round them, as you are OP 😊

GigantosaurusRex · 26/10/2021 07:19

We used ours once towards an Alfresco holiday but mostly we put them towards a butlins weekend once a year. Over half term you can scan your clubcard at the cafe and get a kids free meal - you can use it 4 times so either 1 meal for 4 kids or 4 visits with one etc.

I do almost all my shopping at Tesco and also have Tesco bank account, although they are closing these next month. I use mine for delivery saver, restaurants and Isle of Wight ferry. This last year, I’ve used them for magazine subscriptions which I wouldn’t normally spend money on. When my children were younger I used them on theme park tickets. I wish they could be used on clothes, but they haven’t done the 3 x value on this for a long time.
