Does anyone know how to clean up a bike

I bought a second hand towing bike for my son. It has a few rusting stains on it but in working order.

What's the best thing to use to clean up the bike I wanted to clean it off then paint it a different colour it is black but wanted to paint it blue if I can.

Wasn't sure where to post. 😂

I usually clean the frame of my bike with baby wipes unless it is really filthy in which case I use a bike cleaner but fairy liquid would work just as well.

Personally I have no idea, sorry, but my husband does a lot with old rusty bikes, we always buy second hand, and he just follows YouTube videos!

before painting you need to degrease.
Ideally you would disassemble the bike before cleaning & painting.

Husband has one of these muc-off.com/collections/bicycle-cleaning/products/claw-brush which he really likes for getting in all the nooks and crannies, personally I'd use a dish brush which would be cheaper but something like that is useful.

WD40 is good for cleaning off rust spots, then soapy water and let the frame completely dry before painting.
