DD2 has been diagnosed with premature adrenarche. We've had vIsits to GP and to consultant paediatrician. She's been discharged as there are no signs of premature puberty. She is now 8 and I first took her to GP at 6 as was concerned about some body odour and underarm hair as well as her weight. She's on the 99th percentile for height and weight and I've been told not to worry about her weight. I am concerned though. She is so much taller and wider than her friends and is now getting self conscious about this as she has realised her clothes are age 11-12 and in some cases 12-13 so they fit round her middle. She's active, walks to school most days for half a mile up hill, has her after school club which encourages running about, has swimming twice a week and an hour at trampoline class. She loves being out and about in the park at the weekend and will do hill climbing when encouraged! She is a really fussy eater so I know she eats way to much carbs, but she does normally manage at least 4 of her 5 a day.
Im worried about;
Her being big and getting taller without sliming down as she gets older
Her getting even more self conscious and it impacting on her confidence and happy go lucky attitude
Her being picked on at school due to her size. We use deodorant and she doesn't want her underarm hair removed but I worry about her being picked on about that too. School are aware of her diagnosis.
Any helpful advice from those of you who've been there and done this?
