Confusion over BTEC points

Hi all, my son wants to apply to uni for 2022 but has state red an apprenticeship now, now having been sure what route to take. He has a C at A level, a B in extended maths and 2 D's at Btec level 3 certificate. His school told him a Btec D was worth 48 points (and a Google search confirms it) however its showing as 24 on the UCAS calculator. Does anyone have any insights?

Have you selected the correct btec qualification? I.e certificate vs diploma etc.

There's a dizzying array of Btecs to select from but I definitely chose certificate. On an education website it shows the grade range as 16, 32, 48 and 52, that's from pass up to distinction* so I don't know where 24 has come from.

If it was the BTEC equivalent to one A Level, you need to select Extended Certificate. The Certificate is equivalent to an AS Level.

Thanks @EmuBea - I've just realised the "EC" on his results paper means extended certificate! Panic over. Thanks all
