Sunak's new 'family hubs'

Just reading about his plans for 'family hubs' to support very early months / years of childhood : breastfeeding clinins etc. Am I missing something or are these not basically what New Labour did with Children's Centres that were ace and I used back in the mid 2000s? I'm glad (if) it's going to happen as I thought it was a terrible shame they were one if the first things to go, but are the Tories hoping we've all got such short memories that we'll think this is some great new innovation?

I'd just like someone to pose the q to Rishi.. 'so, how are these different to Sure Start? What was the rationale being closing them and what's changed now? Are babies and toddlers now more in need than they were? Why is that?'

I think these are the questions the press need to be asking. If they don’t then that says a lot.

'Fuck off Rishi Sunak.

And if you vote for them, give your head a shake, please.'

Well said. Investment in Early Years support gets resurrected every 10-15 years like it's some brand new exciting concept. It's bloody galling when you work in this sector and have seen it totally gutted by the Tories, and now to see Sunak clapping himself on the back for such a marvellous idea. They can all shove off. They no nothing about what children, or parents, or ordinary people actually need and they're not interested in learning either
