Hello, first time poster here. I'm coming up to 42 and I have never had children, I never wanted them until meeting my partner. He is also 41 and has a 16 year old. We have been together nearly 3 years and are planning to move in together once his DD has completed her GCSEs.
We decided to stop using contraception and to see what happens without putting pressure on ourselves to conceive. We have not told anyone about this knowing that nothing may happen and the risks involved.
I came off the pill in early September and started taking pre-pregnancy supplements immediately. Since then I have had three periods approximately 10-14 days apart, for around 5-7 days, the first being the day after my last pill. So I have no idea what my cycle currently is, but prior to contraception it was around a 23/24 day cycle. We had sex a day or two before my last pill and then early October and again around 10 days ago.
The last 4/5 days, I've been experiencing bloating, wind, cramps, light headedness, a nauseous feeling and a preference for certain foods, though I wouldn't call it a craving as such. I know these things could be part of my cycle although it feels different and I have never previously suffered with cramps.
I suppose I'm asking when I should take a pregnancy test, baring in mind I don't actually know what my cycle is at the moment. Any suggestions?
