A delivery driver hit partners car last month. He wrote it off. He had an artic lorry in a 7.5 ton limit. Pictures were taken. Driver left details. Delivery company took over a week of we can't help you you need to wait for a call. Eventually a call from someone came through and the best part of 2 weeks later the insurance details were given. They were helpful. Positive. Told us we could have a hire car for morning and filled us with confidence.

48 hours later we were refused hire car as driver claimed it was our fault. We were stationary at a junction. He has dragged us down the road.

We were told we needed independent witnesses but they were refused based on that we knew them as neighbours.

It's been a month and we've been told today the delivery driver was to vague and we can't do anymore.

We only had Third party insurance.
We had the car a week and had just got it as needed it for new job etc.

Boyfriends starting to feel despair. He can't work and he's skint now.

Has anyone got any suggestions now. We can't afford a solicitor.

If you only have 3rd party, you'll get nothing from your insurance company.

That means to claim anything off the lorry driver, you'll need to appoint a solicitor to sue them.

However, you need to inform his insurance company and they will decide where the liability is: www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/insurance/insurance/types-of-insurance/vehicle-insurance/vehicle-insurance-making-a-claim-if-you-re-in-an-accident/

3rd party is often more expensive than a fully comprehensive policy these days.
