Morrison's: so disappointed

ODFOgrinch · 25/10/2021 10:50

Each month or so I do a big Morrison's on line shop to get things that my usual supermarket doesn't stock: crucials table sauces, spices in bags, lots of wonky capsicums etc.
This weekend they changed the online system to deliver from a warehouse instead of stores and no longer cover my area.

I know it's a first world problem but it was part of my routine and I'm never going to go out of my way to visit morrisons (15 miles in the opposite direction to work). Just feeling a bit sad today.
Has a small change to your life ever upset you disproportionately ? Please make me feel less like a drama llama!

I hear you. I can no longer get my favourite tuna fish from Sainsbury's - Albacore fillets in a jar. They're stupidly expensive but are much nicer than the stuff in cans.

BlackeyedSusan · 25/10/2021 11:20

Ahhh, that's disappointing. I hate when something like that happens.

I'm autistic so small changes, disproportionate effect are ten a penny.

Xiaoxiong · 25/10/2021 11:43

I felt like that when Ocado switched from Waitrose stuff to M&S stuff. Everything was the same, but different. I whinged a lot to DH who just couldn't understand the problem and then when I explained it out loud it was a bit silly - things like "wahhh, now I have to buy two 675g packs of M&S chicken thighs, when Waitrose used to do a 1kg pack!"

It's the definition of a first-world problem. But it's still annoying because it adds on to the mental load for a while, especially when you had got that bit of your routine sorted.

bookbook · 25/10/2021 11:47

If you have Amazon Prime , they do local Morrisons delivery now - even same day . My daughter uses it for top ups , and is very impressed

froomeonthebroom · 25/10/2021 11:48

I felt like that when they switched to delivery from stores instead of the warehouse at the beginning of Covid! I do click and collect now as my delivery comes from the small store 10 miles away rather than the one down the road and has a very limited selection. If they've gone back to using the Ocado warehouses I'll be really pleased.

Thissucksmonkeynuts · 25/10/2021 11:49

I didn't see the emails saying they'd scrapped their Morrisons Fivers at the end of August. I've missed out out on about £40 that I would have put towards our Christmas shop. Low level hacked off at that.

PlausibleSuit · 25/10/2021 11:50

I moved house recently, and it meant the Morrison's fulfilment switched from warehouse to local store.

Not the biggest thing in the world but it was a nuisance. So many subs, missing items and almost-out-of-date food from the store fulfilment. I gave up in the end and switched supermarkets. A shame, as I quite like Morrison's.

DahliaMacNamara · 25/10/2021 12:09

Like @Thissucksmonkeynuts, I'm disproportionately irritated by the change to the More card. I used to hang on to the vouchers for Christmas, or a bleak January, but now the best I can get is 10% off random 'offers' that get sent to my account. I have to remember to log in to see them before they expire. The very occasional couple of quid off veggies or 30p off toilet roll doesn't begin to compensate for having vouchers in my purse ready to call into action when they're needed.
Oh, and they've stopped stocking my favourite soft drink. Bastards.

bnotts · 25/10/2021 12:17

It said they didn't cover my area yesterday evening. I freaked out. But this morning logging on the website - not the app - it now said they did might be worth trying again.

MarleneDietrichsSmile · 25/10/2021 12:20

Amazon fresh have lots of Morrison’s stuff

Worth a try

Omg....what? Can we still spend any of them?

Me too. We always saved them up over the year and used them for Xmas. Because we haven't shopped in store, and had them set up to print in store we have lost them. Plus all the stupid deals they send me now are in store only. I SHOP ONLINE, STOP GIVING ME DEALS I CANT USE!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate the fact that you now have to order M&S stuff from Ocado. They don't deliver to our rural area. I used to order from M&S and collect in store. Can't do that any more.
PuppyMonkey · 25/10/2021 12:34

Another vote for Amazon Prime Morrison's shop - did it all through lockdown.

Thissucksmonkeynuts · 26/10/2021 18:25

Bloodylovecheese I'd squeak with joy if it turned out that my Fivers still existed, but I think we had a finite period to redeem them and it expired at the end of August.

gogohm · 26/10/2021 18:28

Unfortunately Amazon's Morrison's tie up only works if you are near the store, ours is 7 miles and they don't deliver here

cantgetmyheadroundit · 26/10/2021 18:29

I've just looked on Amazon and apparently Amazon Fresh isn't available in my area. Whyyyyyy?

Because it comes from the local store within 2 hours No store- no delivery option
CiaoForDiNiaoSaur · 26/10/2021 18:32

I had the same problem when they switched from the warehouse deliveries. Half the stuff I ordered wasn't available (even though I could get it in so they do stock it) and the stuff that was was out of stock.

I'm glad they've switched back!

Sahgah · 26/10/2021 18:35

I’m also disappointed they stopped the £5 vouchers, I also used to save them up and use them at Christmas.
I quite like it coming from a warehouse I find the expiry dates are better and the fruit and veg is fresher. Less substitutions as well.
I’m also annoyed at Morrison’s that I can only use the nhs discount instore and not for an online shop as I love the discount and can’t justify not going in store for my groceries as 10%off every week is great but once it ends I might look elsewhere for my groceries as the £5 vouchers have ended there is nothing keeping me with Morrison’s.

fruckkkit · 26/10/2021 18:36

@ginslinger weirdly our local Home Bargains sells the fancy albacore tuna, might be worth a look if you have one near you

liveforsummer · 26/10/2021 18:40

No store- no delivery option

I have 3 Morrisons stores within 2 miles and another 3 within 4 and there is no Amazon fresh option on Amazon for me. I can order via Uber eats but what you can order is extremely limited

Femnisaurus · 26/10/2021 18:42

@gogohm

nope - it's not a distance thing - I use it every week and (despite having a store in my town) the Prime service uses a Morrisons 21 miles away from me.
Femnisaurus · 26/10/2021 18:47

@cantgetmyheadroundit

AIUI - the drivers work for Amazon, they use their own cars so probably freelance. Mine comes from the next major town over (21 miles). Watching them move along on the app it looks as though they do about 3-4 drop offs per trip.
cantgetmyheadroundit · 26/10/2021 18:50

I live less than 1.5 miles from a big Morrisons. I get everything else from Amazon, Uber Eats and all that. Annoying!
