Help! Box dye gone wrong

CheesusTheSaviour · 24/10/2021 07:14

Urghh so I went with 'beige light brown' rather than the 'light brown' I'd usually try because light brown has been turning my hair quite dark and a little red.

Result is strawberry blonde on top, no change on lengths.

What do I do now?
1 - try to get to a salon
2 - permanent dye in top - what colour?
3 - temporary dye on top just to get through work tomorrow
4 - live with it (no)
5 - cut it all short
6 - other ideas?

Thanks

I vote for an emergency salon visit.

Dint try another permanent on top, it will go green or worse

JosiahJosiahKate · 24/10/2021 07:47

Salon without a doubt.

Do not put anything else on the top.
I've been there. Disaster.

It’s a Sunday so you will be hard pushed to get an appointment today.
I wouldn’t put anything on top either.
When do you have work ?

mrsbyers · 24/10/2021 07:51

If you wash with fairy it will strip out some of the colour

Yes, this might be an idea until you can get an appointment.

Ok I have an appointment at a salon I've never been to before (I'm not in uk). What do I ask them to do?

Heads and shoulder - keep washing it out

Don’t worry they will know what you want them to do. Good luck.
Ylvamoon · 24/10/2021 07:56
  1. Keep washing your hair- it will eventually wash out.
  2. Salon visit ASAP
  3. refer to point 1 & 2.
CheesusTheSaviour · 24/10/2021 08:10

I really don't think they will know what I want them to do - I'm in Asia and most people here have a very different hair type. Fingers crossed!

No way you can find an European hairdresser? You really would be better with one. Go and explain what you've done, and if they dont look convinced about offering a solution, walk out.
You cant dye stuff lighter than it currently is, so that's why the ends haven't changed colour.
Good luck!

CheesusTheSaviour · 24/10/2021 08:24

There aren't any here unfortunately

Are you on FB? I'd ask for recommendations from an expat group in your city/country. There will be hairdressers experienced with western hair where you live.

Londontown12 · 24/10/2021 08:48

Pictures wil help lots of pictures x

TheSunIsStillShining · 24/10/2021 09:48

Been in this situation multiple times before. Didn't go to hairdresser ever.
Solutions

  1. bought black dye and re-did it that day. Black covers everything.
  2. used color stripper (hydrogen peroxide basically) to get a lovely yellowish uglyness on head, then went for a bright red with blue stripes - fucked it up, might as well have some fun :) and I was 19.
  3. peroxide and then normal color. within 2 days 3 dyes. Did not do wonders for my hair, but survived.
  4. got my H's hair clipper and shaved it to about 1 centimeter long.

Easiest is still no 1 :)

They did a great job! Very little English but confident and clearly skilled. Did one colour on the top bit, Waited a while, a different colour on top bit, waited, then allover job of 2nd color. Will take a picture in a moment. Thanks for telling me to go feel much better now.

I'm sure Boots do a dye remover shampoo ....

InTheLabyrinth · 24/10/2021 12:14

Great news. Keep their number. If they can deal with western hair, they are worth knowing! Enjoy your new colour

BillinaTheChickenQueen · 24/10/2021 18:35

Brilliant news. I’m glad it worked out.
