I dont have many people in my life and during the holidays it becomes more apparent. Everyones busy doing things with family and friends and just dont have time to fit you in. My 3 YO is really social and enjoys being around other kids but I just don't know many people. He enjoys the time we spend together but I can see how much he enjoys playing with others his age. I've tried to casually ask friends if they wanted to take the kids on play dates, they agree quite enthusiastically but never follow through.

Can anyone suggest things for me and 3YO(nearly 4) to do during this half term?

Are there classes he can do? (Eg Swimming/ music/ gymnastics/hedgehogs). I feel your pain! My dd is and always has been an extrovert and I’m …well… really not! So I’ve fallen back on more formal settings as a way of managing to get her her needed social life whilst keeping some degree of sanity myself. If funds are an issue (and for whom are they not at the minute!) libraries will have some themed sessions running as will local museums and attractions. Even if these are small scale they will be fun for your DS and offer a chance to be social with other kids and adults. But also get concrete with the other parents. ‘Do you want to meet sometime’ is vague and easily dismissed as not a polite but not genuine offer. ‘I’m going to x event/place at this time. Ds has mentioned that he really likes spending time with your DC . Would you like to come?’ will generally get a ‘yes’ or a ‘no but how about Y?’ . Sympathies to you, it’s not easy is it!

Whereabouts are you? You could post in a local parent’s Facebook group? I’ve also heard good things about the peanut app.
