Light hearted - why am I so dozy and stupid in my 'old' age?!

Why am I so dozy & doing more ridiculous stuff since I've hit in my mid 40s?! It is either the peri-menopause, or lockdown, or both.

I have spent the evening removing my gel pedicure (which is about 3 weeks overdue as I have kept putting it off because it's such a bore). I thought I was on a roll, as it all came off the first foot soo easily. Half way through prepping my second foot, I realised I didn't have gels on.. it was normal nail polish Confused

Last week I made a lovely fresh chicken stock.. hours of boiling.. only to promptly drain it all down the sink without a bowl underneath.

I've just also fell in this weekend I've been taking Wellteen vitamins, which I've clearly picked up by mistake in the chemist.

I feel like I'm turning into a doddery old dear and I'm only 40 something!

Oh god this was me - take pregenolone now and notched my IQ level up a few notches

DirtyDancing · 23/10/2021 22:13

I will look into that because this is ridiculous!

I'm like this. Have just started HRT in the hope of improvement.

@Aderyn21 did you go to your GP? Do they run the bloody tests and things?

Welcome to the joys of perimenopausal brain fog.

If it helps at all, it does get better. Eventually! I'm out the other side now and my mental sharpness is back, thank God.

Cam I ask where you get yours from and which brand? I’ve been concerned at my own brain fog which seems to come and go, especially when I’m overwhelmed and stressed

I did get a blood test from my GP, who said my hormone levels indicated being menopausal, but levels can fluctuate and the guidelines now are that GPs should prescribe HRT on the symptoms. There are about 40 different symptoms so worth having a look at them. There's a website called menopausal not mad which is good.
Anyway, I'm now on my first month and I'll see how things go. I opted for gel and progesterone tablets but you can get patches which are less daily effort

40?! Wow! I need to look at this a bit closer- I am also constantly exhausted, but dont sleep as well as I used to have dry eyes & have colder feet than I remember last year ! Wonder if these are on the list..
