We’re going for a few days soon. Recommendations of places to eat would be most welcome, especially breakfast places. We have one early start (leaving at 8.45) near St Giles cathedral so a breakfast spot there would be great.

We are staying in the old town near green side and the vue cinema. We’re not taking dressy clothes so nothing too posh, but would prefer something other than chains.

Urban Angel is my favourite for brekkie and is quite close to where you are staying. The Pantry in Stockbridge is also fab.

Not a breakfast spot but the educated flea is great

Thanks, I’ll check these out

Spry is a fab wine bar close to top of Leith Walk that I'd recommend too - not for breakfast obv but a great find!

Montpeliers is nice for breakfast - if you like sushi, try going on top of Harvey Nicks (good views too).

I visited the new St James’ Quarter recently and really liked it. Maki and Ramen was lush

Loudons in the new development just off the Royal Mile is good for breakfast/brunch. Not far from where you're staying or St Giles either.

Tani Modi for brunch is good, plus a second vote for Urban Angel which was fab when we visited this summer.

Haven't been but there's probably lots of great eateries in the Big Jobby.

Thanks for all these recommendations!
