My son has tested positive as of yesterday (10 yrs old, single jabbed) and I'm due to be matron of honour at a wedding tomorrow!

I am not symptomatic, have been double jabbed and the gov website says I don't need to isolate but I don't know how I feel about it. Is it too much of a risk?

My lateral flow test is negative and I'll test again tomorrow - do you think I can still go? It's my best friend! (She's happy with it)

Son will obviously not be attending!

Lateral flows are not that reliable. I tested negative on one following a close family contact but positive the next day on a PCR (but I had symptoms by then).

Legally you can go, but how would you feel if you pass it on to the bride and elderly wedding guests (if any)?

Oh no! What rotten timing.

Will you not need to go get a PCR as a close contact of your DS and self isolate until you get the result?

Are the bride and groom going on a honeymoon? I wouldn't go if they are, would be shit for them to test positive on holiday.

I wouldn’t go. It’s possible you will have it too but it may not be able to be picked up yet.

As PP says if they’re about to go on their honeymoon …

maddy68 · 23/10/2021 18:03

I would go but Only of I tested negative on a PCR test. Can you have a rapid test done in the morning before you go.

I would definitely also ensure I kept my distance from elderly relatives

girlmom21 · 23/10/2021 18:12

I wouldn't go because you could be carrying it, regardless of the LFT result

MiloAndEddie · 23/10/2021 19:15

I’d see if you can get a PCR test pretty rapid.

My DD tested negative on a LFT but positive on a PCR taken 4 hours later
