Anyone have an ipad and can help me?

I currently have an Iphone 8 and use the lightning cable. DD has an old ipad which uses the old style cables.

DD is desperate for a new ipad for Christmas but I keep reading the new ones use a different cable again, is this true?

Are there any of the ipads that use the lightning cable but also can run the latest apps? She has apps that she needs for homework, they run on my phone but she wants them on her new ipad, they won’t work on her current ipad.

I’m looking at an Ipad Air but will look at anything around that price band or cheaper if it does what I need it to.

No suggestions of other tablets, the ipad has lasted the longest out of all the tablets she’s had including Samsung, so I only want to consider ipads – ipad will be going between here and ExHs (DDs dad) and possibly to school and/or holiday club at times and her ipad has managed this without scratching or signs of wear.

It uses USB-C and comes with the cable in the box.

From the Apple store website it looks like the pro, mini and air have moved over to USB C but the standard iPad hasn’t yet as it still contains a lightning to usb c cable (the new charger is USB C) it will still charge from a lightning charger.

Looks like some use the USB C cable which is what Samsung uses

I know it'll come with one, but there's times now where she needs to charge it and I have to find the lead (she's only 7) and I have loads of lightning cables.

That's useful if it is as they sell those in my local b+m and Tesco cheaply so it might be better to just get her the Air she wants.

Not to answer your question, but why does it matter what cable it takes?

I’m sure you do have a good reason, but there’s a chance you can work around it.

Ah you’ve answered it in the ages I spent typing!

If it’s just for chargers, maybe just get an adapter that lives in the iPad?
