Why do some posters say ' I need the Hive Mind'?

I've seen lots of posts over the years referring to 'the Hive Mind' of Mumsnet.

I always think this the wrong term, as I believed a 'hive mind' was homogeneous, lead by a leader, resulted in a common thought, etc.

Am I too influenced by the Borg??! Or is the term 'hive mind' the opposite of what Mumsnet is?

Because they've seen it elsewhere and think it makes them look smart. Probably the same idiots who bang on about their "spidey senses tingling".

Yeah they’re using it wrong. They’re looking for a forum but inadvertently asking for an echo chamber.

I guess mumsnet could be said to have a hive mind on some topics, though. You could appeal to the hive mind of mumsnet to validate your hatred of toilet brushes etc.

Or the need to change your sheets hourly as a minimum
