Electric or hob top steamer?

The most exciting thread I think ever posted.

I steam veg every day without fail. However yesterday I left unattended and my beloved hob top steamer burnt to cinders.

Would so I’m in the market for a new one. Never used electric. Would you recommend over a hob top?

I much prefer electric steamers. Saves hob space for something else. I have a Morphy Richards one with three layers and I'm happy with it.

I had an electric one we used a lot mainly as our gas job was breaking

At Christmas I put it in the utility to free up space

So now you use hob one? Because you preferred?

Electric one as it’s set and walk away. Get one with metal baskets though as the plastic ones inevitably crack and break

Same as you prefer to have a plug - in steamer leaves the hob free for other things and great for doing xmas pudding while we eat .

I've got a Magimix steamer. The baskets and water container are all stainless steel. I use it every single day. It was a bit pricey but I have had so much use out of it, it is my favourite appliance.

We had electric and switched to hob one we had an induction hob - can set the timer etc then anyway.
