I've been running for a few months now but am still quite new and slow - I run 2-3 times a week including at least 1 5k, but that takes me about 38mins so not very quick. Yesterday I did a new exercise class (legs, bums and tums) and my muscles are a bit sore today - particularly my quads. Would it be really stupid to do parkrun today, or could I do it and just accept I might be even slower than normal?

If it makes a difference, I also have a kickboxing grading later, which will involve some stamina tests, although I'm wondering if the parkrun might actually be a good warm up/muscle stretch for the grading...

Run, you'll be fine.

The run will probably help. Running with stiff muscles will certainly do you no harm. Make sure you stretch well afterwards.

Yay, that's the answer I was hoping for!

Yes, I thought it might actually be helpful. What has become of me, that I am actually more keen to go than to have an excuse to avoid it?!?!

You'll be clunky to begin with, but turn you'll find your stride

The run is a good idea, just go at a pace that suits you.

But

If it makes a difference, I also have a kickboxing grading later, which will involve some stamina tests,

I don't really know what this entails & maybe you need to conserve your energy a bit? I don't think the run per se will affect it, but you just need to get a bit of rest later.

Enjoy!

Well I did it, first 2k were a good pace but my legs gave out a bit towards the end. Very stiff now but hopefully wont cause a problem for the kickboxing!

Well done. I hope the kickboxing goes well
