Squid Game games, what's yours?

DH and I have been trying to devise our own game for the next series (you know, just incase the producers are looking for inspiration).

We've come up a game called 'Running With Scissors'.

The rules are, you run around with really sharp scissors stabbing all your opponents but when the creepy murderous doll thing turns round and starts shooting, absolutely everyone dies.

Everyone.

3 weeks ago this would have seemed like a pretty fucked up conversation for a middle aged couple to be having of an evening but since watching Squid Game it seems pretty tame.

Anyone got other ideas?

Whats the time Mr Wolf. But with actual wolves.

Sleeping lions. But with actual lions.

Hide and seek could make for a wonderfully tense episode.

british bulldog but one team are the red clothed guards - you 'win' if you can get past them while they are in a long chain.

tag - if you're 'it' at the end of a round you die.

musical chairs but with the creepy korean music.

conkers but with explosives or something!

dodgeball is already vicious enough

the floor is lava - literally! some sort of assault course

oh also egg and spoon race where again the 'egg' is a bomb or something! Or the race where you and a partner have your legs tied together.

Rock Paper Scissors. Loser gets rocked, papered (in mouth?) or scissored.

It’s called Kowi Powi Po in Korea, I used to have to beg my students to stop playing it.

I wonder how long before someone tells off for making up death games for a fictional program 😂

We used to play a game in primary school called "It's a bomb" where everyone stood in a wide circle, one person had a tennis ball and tossed it to a random person in the circle who passed it to someone else and so on. The whole time we chanted "it's a bomb... its a bomb... its a bomb". If you dropped the ball then you and the person who threw it to you had to run right around the outside of the circle, back through your gap and into the centre where you'd throw yourself onto the bomb to disarm it. The person who lost that race was out and while the race was going on the rest of us would be counting down from ten, if we reached zero then the bomb went off and both players were out.

We've watched Squid Game but another series on Netflix in Alice in Borderland which is Japanese and a similar format to Squid game (games and death).

Sorry, I can't think of a fucked up kids game to play at the minute

Just as I posted that I thought of a game!

French skipping but the rope is a metal string that can slice through bodies

Hopscotch but the square where the pebble lands that that you're meant to not jump on has spikes or lava or something under it so if you wobble and land on it, you're out.

Snakes and ladders with real snake pits.

Does it still get played at kid’s parties? It’s savage!

Snakes and Ladders, you have to climb a greasy ladder, anyone who falls off goes straight into a pit of poisonous snakes.

We used to play run outs and if you made a false call you were out. I was particularly good at taking my shoe off and making it look like I was crouched behind a car, or setting up an elaborate scene with my coat over a post.

Either that or kerbsy.

When I recently watched Squid game I honestly thought musical chairs would be one of the games, with some hideous punishment for the person left without a chair- loved this series but gawd it was disturbing!

Oranges and lemons with a real guillotine.

Was rather creepy in ‘1984’ as Julia and Winston were discovered ….
