Urgent - how to post photos

CharisD · 22/10/2021 03:20

Hi everyone. I'm new here and urgently need to post photos to get some advice from the excellent Piglet John. (Basically he can't envisage the situation from my lousy description- my own words; he's too nice to say that!) Please could someone give me an idiot's guide re how to post photos here? I swear I am competent in other areas of life, apart from plumbing and computers! Thank you in anticipation of your help. Best wishes.

Under the Comment box there's a row of 4 icons. Click on the paperclip icon. (on a phone).

Samanabanana · 22/10/2021 03:27

If you're new, you can't post photos straight away, that might be why you can't work it out!

CallMeRisley · 22/10/2021 03:27

I’m not 100% sure but I believe you can’t post photos straight away with a brand new account, there’s a period of time you have to wait (not sure how long, sorry).

CharisD · 22/10/2021 04:24

Thank you all for being so helpful! I tried as suggested and it turns out that those who said that I couldn't post photos because I'm a new user were, of course, right. Does anyone know how I might get round this? Would upgrading to Premium help? Would Mumsnet HQ be prepared to make an exception - having had sight of said (deeply dull) photos first, of course - given that I'm desperate, disabled and ideally don't want to get a plumber in as I'm clinically vulnerable, awaiting my Covid booster and in an area of high prevalence? Thank you all.

Hello @CharisD, I'm afraid MNHQ are tucked up in their beds at the moment so nothing can be done until morning.

I'll report your post and ask ifbthey can help you out.

MacMahon · 22/10/2021 04:29

Upload the photo elsewhere such as Pinterest or Instagram or a picture sharing site, and then share a link.create a new account to protect your privacy if you’re not too savvy.

CharisD · 22/10/2021 04:59

Thank you, EineKleine, for letting Mumsnet HQ know.
Thank you, MacMahon, but I'm afraid I don't have those sites or your technical competence!
Best wishes to all who've helped me - you've been so kind to a stranger and I hope it brings you all luck!

If you ever need to contact MNHQ you can just report your own post by hitting 'report' a message box comes up and you just type your message and then send. Or you can always email them at [email protected].

I hope PigletJohn will be able to sort out your plumbing Grin

Luckytattie · 22/10/2021 05:49

I think it takes one day before you can post a photo

CharisD · 22/10/2021 09:08

Thank you all again. I'll try later! I hope you all have a good day!

You could upload to a site like Wix then share the link if you still can't upload photos.

soniamumsnet · 22/10/2021 12:14

Hi @CharisD just dropping in to say that it takes 48 hours before you can post. Hope this helps, and give us a shout at: [email protected] if you need any more help with anything. Flowers

CharisD · 22/10/2021 12:24

I just tried that e-Mail address and it bounced back to me as undeliverable. Please, please could you make a wee exception in all the circumstances? I'm disabled and desperate. Thank you.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 22/10/2021 15:48

Hello @CharisD oh we really understand how desperate your situation is but we're afraid we can't change this for one user without significant tech work. We'll definitely look into a way to do this by user in the future. If you can't hang on until tomorrow, you could try emailing the images to us (I know you said the previous mail bounced but hopefully this will get through) at [email protected] and we can post on your behalf.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 22/10/2021 15:50

Oh, and my significantly sharper colleague just suggested you could upload the images to imgur and then post the link on your thread. imgur.com/upload

FleasInMyKnees · 22/10/2021 15:51

Can you try and explain what has happened so that we might be able to help

CharisD · 22/10/2021 15:55

Thank you ever so much, Mumsnet and everyone else! As it was urgent I in the lat 5-10 minutes went ahead and ordered a mixture of plugs off Amazon in the hope that at least one works. Everyone, not least of all Piglet John, has been so very kind to me and I send you all my prayers and / or best wishes. Thanks again, everyone.

FleasInMyKnees · 22/10/2021 15:57

Is it the bathplug. Maybe someone could get one for you and drop it round if we live locally, have you got someone who could get one.

FleasInMyKnees · 22/10/2021 16:01

I used a upside down medicine pot as a plug until I could get a new one

CharisD · 22/10/2021 17:38

Actually, FleasInMyKnees, the lid of one of my medicine jars might well do the job! Thank you!

OP posts:
FleasInMyKnees · 22/10/2021 17:41

Enjoy a well earned bath

CharisD · 23/10/2021 00:45

Thank you! Apparently the plugs are arriving tomorrow so fingers crossed!

CharisD · 24/10/2021 16:32

The universal plugs arrived and worked. Thanks to Piglet John and everyone else for your help! Phew!
