Half term plans?

What's everyone's plans? We have a few playdates lined up, a halloween event thing at the local park and not much else! A friend just asked us to meet at a softplay to catch up- not sure about that one. Any exciting plans?

London for 4 nights. Nice hotel, museums, a show and shopping with DD2.

Amandasummers · 21/10/2021 23:11

We’re going to a holiday park in clacton. I was really looking forward to it but then realised the last time we went the youngest was still a baby so it was pretty easy, he’s a feral 3 year old now so I’m not sure if will be as much fun as it will be stressful 🤣

DoucheCanoe · 21/10/2021 23:16

Ours go back on Monday after a 2 wéek break, we got the train to nearest city for a few hours to spend birthday money at the toy shop and we went to see the Addams family 2 another.

Other than that we hadn't really planned anything as I'm working evenings and I think downtime is important for kids too!

batmanladybird · 21/10/2021 23:26

I have no plans at all
Fuck knows what I am gonna do with them all.

SquirmOfEels · 21/10/2021 23:30

If going to London, taking your car and intending to drive inside the north or south Circular, check now if your car is ULEZ compliant.

The zone expansion takes effect on Monday, and its £12.50 daily to drive (any time) inside the zone.

I have a very important (to me) funeral on Monday and no childcare 😢

Can I take a well behaved (& willing) almost-7yr old to a funeral? Or am I being blinded by my own desperation to not miss said funeral?

Yes Flowers

As long as you think your DC will cope, of course.

I think toddlers can be a bit awkward at funerals (because it's so hard for them to sit still and quietly, and it's circumstances where people are stressed and sad, and random noises really intrusive) but other DC are fine (young enough to sleep reliably, or old enough to sit still)

MinnieMountain · 22/10/2021 07:01

Sorry for your loss @PumpkinsandTea. A 7yo will be fine. My DS was just 7 at DM’s funeral. We bribed him to behave to be on the safe side but he’d have been ok anyway.

We’re off to Butlin’s today.

Wednesday DS is going to MIL’s for a bit.

Thursday we’re going to the local country park to try out the new playground that’s finally open.

Friday is HMS Belfast and the Imperial War Museum.

Saturday we’re going to a local Halloween disco.

Couple of days at PILs, including a lunch out in Cambridge just DH and I, which is a rare treat. Then a couple of days at home for which I have no plans currently. Then a couple of days at my DPs, hopefully including seeing a couple of old friends.

2anddone · 22/10/2021 07:07

Performance of national ballet on the weekend followed by 2 nights in London to watch a couple of shows and a bit of shopping, afternoon tea with my mum and a day out next weekend shopping with a friend I haven't seen for years. Usually I keep October half term relatively quiet but playing catch up on what we have missed and packing other bits in in case things go crazy again during the next half term!

IggyAce · 22/10/2021 07:09

Not a great deal planned, a day out at Beamish. DD has a friend sleeping over 1 night and off shopping the next day.
Will probably promise them cakes from the local bakery as long as they come on a walk.

teaandtoast39 · 22/10/2021 07:09

I'm working for the first half of the week so ds will be spending time with grandparents and going to an activity camp those two days. After that we've got a Halloween crafting exercise at the museum, hoping to go pumpkin picking, swimming and then a load of Halloween activities over the weekend. Our week is very Halloween based 🙈

wendz86 · 22/10/2021 07:13

Pumpkin picking , family lunch for my birthday , gymnastics camps , Halloween party and possibly a zoo trip as we have annual passes .

Mummydoctor · 22/10/2021 07:15

Spending this weekend visiting husband’s family, so probably autumnal walks. Monday to Wednesday I’m working typical long days (GP) so kids are with my parents - probably relaxing, a trip to cinema to see Addam’s family and some Halloween baking. Then we are having a day at Scarefest at Alton Towers and picking/carving pumpkins on a farm the other day. Next weekend we’ve got a swim gala and then I’ll take them trick or treating.

confusedofengland · 22/10/2021 08:23

On Monday my youngest will be finishing his isolation from testing positive for Covid, so I'll stay at home with him. We've all, except DH been positive, his is the last freedom date.

Tuesday might see if DH wants to head to London with the DC.

Wednesday I am working in the morning. Afternoon we plan to take DC to the funfair at the seaside.

Thursday maybe pumpkin picking, DH has uni lectures online.

Friday I am working in the morning then seeing friends in the afternoon.

Saturday seeing my sisters for afternoon tea, while the DHs look after the DC, I think they are doing home cinema.

Sunday usual football etc

H1978 · 22/10/2021 08:51

Going away today to a holiday park until Monday, hope the weather is decent. Doing a mid week theme park trip. Not much else planned although we have purchased tickets for an escape room with older dcs but not booked anything in yet so see if we can squeeze that into the week too.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/10/2021 09:01

Tonight we're ordering dessert from a local dessert shop, our tradition at the start of the school holidays. Tomorrow we are going to a local fair. Sunday DS has his horse riding lesson and we are doing a Halloween trail round the local park, then visiting a relative for coffee. Monday I booked the day off work, we are meeting friends for brunch then decorating the house for Halloween.

Tuesday to Friday I'm working, DS is going to exh's on Tuesday and Wednesday, holiday club on Thursday and to grandparents on Friday. The Saturday before Halloween we are going pumpkin picking at a local farm and to a Halloween party in the evening, then on Sunday we'll watch some Halloween movies with snacks and trick or treat in the evening. Can't wait!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 22/10/2021 09:04

youngest has COVID, so we'll be fondly re-enacting February half-term lockdown, except minus the long walks. Netflix, baking, board games here we come.

I'm trying to get DH to arrange to WFH on the day the DC and I were going to a concert, so at least DC1 and I can go.

Simonjt · 22/10/2021 09:08

My son has three days of dance ‘camp’, Grandma is coming to the rescue on the fourth and I’ll have him on Friday as thats my day off.

He has been off this with with croup, so I’ve used up most of our planned at home activities.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 22/10/2021 11:50

We were supposed to camping in a forest with some friends but DS caught Covid so we've had to cancel. He now has to isolate and his first day of freedom is the last day of the half term holiday. Gutted.

Doughnuts68 · 22/10/2021 15:45

So many going away.

CoodleMoodle · 22/10/2021 16:25

Going to stay with DM for a week - we go every half term. Only 45mins away but a change of scenery. We'll just potter about when we get there.

DD7 has requested a museum but that's about it. DS3 hasn't been to this particular museum since he was a baby (IE pre-lockdown), so he might actually enjoy it this time! Other than that, no idea. The car wash has been discussed...

Oakdog · 22/10/2021 16:33

Being sad about our holiday in Scotland as DD tested positive this week and isolation finishes next Friday!! Then watching lots of films and eating popcorn.

Magilix · 22/10/2021 16:34

Nothing apart from an afternoon tea/hen do with my soon to be sister-in-law on Thursday and then my brother's wedding the folllowing day. Really hoping that none of us come down with COVID and can go.
