My child seems to have a food addiction

Any parents of secret eaters?

I keep finding wrappers everywhere! The last straw has been an empty pot of hot chocolate powder and a spoon down the side of the sofa. Last week it was a box of icing.

DD is 10. Overweight and seems to be addicted to food/sugar.

Any advice please. I don't quite know where to turn next.

and I really fancied a hot chocolate

Hi op.
You’ve had some good advice here regarding food and exercise but I wondered if she was bored at all? 10 is a very funny age, top year of junior school so feeling grown up, knowing change is coming moving to a new school, worry about leaving friends behind and making new ones, plus growing up, body changing, not wanting to play as much with toys but not having a replacement for that. Does she do any craft at all? Keeping her hands and mind busy will stop her from raiding the cupboards!
Also being out of the house more, bike rides, walks, do you do any exercise she could join in with? Couch to 5k for example.
I’d also take her shopping and get her involved in planning and preparing meals. It’s a good opportunity to teach healthy eating.
