I've got terrible health anxiety mainly relating to the kids. It's on my list to go to the GP but I know a lot of anti anxiety meds have side effects and that and the fear of failure has stopped me so far.

Anyway am alone with the kids tonight, massive COVID outbreak in their school. DD2 has gone to bed with tummy pains.

Trying to act normal whilst having a panic attack she'll be sick.

I hate feeling like this and I hate myself for it

I have anxiety and depression and finally went to get help. They put me on meds which help me relax so I can sleep and when I wake up at night I can go back to sleep rather than have 1000 things swirling around my mind. It’s definitely helped me as I still work in a stressful place with dickheads for colleagues but I can deal with the crap and not overthink things/blame myself. Definitely make the call to your GP and see how they can help you.

My side effects lasted a couple of weeks where not a lot changed sleep was still crap etc and I felt a little sick but took them at night so I wasn’t too bad. 2 weeks of side effects is normal and is so-able as the benefits outweigh those few effects

Honestly, some do have side effects, but there are thousands, millions of people who really benefit from them. Side effects are likely to be things like a little bit of nausea or insomnia for a couple of days before it settles, or before you try a different med. I can't imagine how awful my baseline anxiety would be. Please try it x

You know what, if you experience side effects, you can change to a different anxiolytic. The most important thing is taking that first step, it’s hard but it’s really, really worth it. I wish you well.

So I finally plucked up the courage to get a GP appointment.

Our GP have an online triage, filled it in cancelled it refilled it etc. Took ages for me to actually submit the damn thing.

They've got back to me offering a phone appointment IN 3 WEEKS Sad

I'd worked myself up of what to say etc and that I might get some help today or tomorrow and now I have to wait ages.
