How/where do I find a curtain pole to fit a bay window

Hoping MN can help as I've no clue where to look for this. I have a bay window which I don't think is any kind of standard size. I'd like curtains but how do I get a pole or track to fit, have any of you solved this?

Yes. You can buy bendy curtain tracks. Ours is from B&Q.

We got ours at dunelm, they're adjustable but you do need to be fairly DIY inclined IMO. It wasn't as easy to cut to size or fit as it makes out, at all.

We didn't want a bendy track as I'm not a fan of the look of them but that would be miles easier and cheaper.

Other alternative is get some handyman quotes.

We cheated and ran the pole from each wall and have the curtain go straight across

Thanks all Brew
StrawberriCream I can see the temptation, but it would cut out too much of the room. It's quite a deep bay and I'm not sure a bendy track is long enough. Going to have a look at Dunhelm.

John Lewis is normally great for this - this is the specific section with a few options.

I’ve just had to do this and did quite a bit of research!! When we moved in both our bays had plastic tracks and they are awful - the hooks catch on every bracket - avoid at all costs. Plus they look ugly.

You can buy a proper pole, for both 3 sided bays and 5 sided (like a proper semi circle) bays.

I research loads of places and they are actually quite hard to come by, although if you have a 3 sided bay and don’t mind, there were a glut on FB market place and flea at, but we needed a 5 sided one. We ended up getting ours from Terrys Fabrics (I’ll post a link). Not cheap but well worth it.

I got one last week from screwfix

ShaneTheThird · 21/10/2021 12:35

Outs is a huge bay window and we got a bay window curtain pole. Will find link

Mykittensmittens · 21/10/2021 12:36

Ebay not flea at (!!)

John Lewis when I priced up the parts the pole with bends and finials would have been £300!!!

Dunelm sell a 3 sided bay pole, and another which can be adapted with extra bends for a curved bay, but then they don’t sell the extra bends so that’s pointless.

Shock

My bay window takes up the entire wall and my bay window pole cost me £74 for everything

Guessing yours is a box bay (3 sided) and not a curved bay which needs 5 pole bends/joints
Moonface123 · 21/10/2021 12:51

Amazon is where l get mine, they are adjustable to fit bay windows.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 21/10/2021 12:52

Anyone know where you can get a pole for six-sided bays?

VeniVidiWeeWee · 21/10/2021 12:58

How can you have a six sided bay?

Poetrypatty · 21/10/2021 13:00

Thanks for all these replies and info, brilliant.

Oh ours has five windows, a big one in the middle and two smaller ones each side so maybe that won't work for others windows.

Biancadelrioisback · 21/10/2021 13:25

Mines just a 2 sided half bay but my parents have a 'curtain man' who does custom curtain tracks. He has a special bendy tool thing.
He used to work at JL fitting curtains so he was much cheaper than going with them direct. Look for curtain fitters in your area

Mykittensmittens · 21/10/2021 13:41

@VeniVidiWeeWee

This is a six sided bay.

Mine is a five sided and that was hard enough.

@Moonface123 can you link to your Amazon one as I’ve done two of our bays and have two more to do!

I went to a local curtain shop who sourced one for me.

FrancesFlute · 21/10/2021 14:05

Ooh I love that 6 bend photo! What a beautiful room.
I have a 5 bend bay and we had to get ours custom made by a local business. The closest off the shelf one we found was one from John Lewis but DH didn't trust himself to do the measurements correctly and get the sizes wrong/lose money. Turned out each of the five bends was ever so slightly different width wise. It was hundreds of pounds though but is going strong seven years on!

Pricklypear12 · 21/10/2021 14:23

Got mine from wilko

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 22/10/2021 11:22

@VeniVidiWeeWee We have two six-sided bays, like in the picture @Mykittensmittens posted. They’re lovely to look at but an utter pain in the bum to dress. Which is why, after six years in this house, we still don’t have anything on our sitting room window. For our bedroom, we ended up with a bendy track, but it’s ugly, and the little clips ping off constantly.
