Breakfast ideas for upset stomach?

Anyone has any thoughts on Breakfast ideas?

I stopped dairy around 2 years ago as it was upsetting my stomach. Moved over to Oat Milk and cereal since then but find that it also upsets my stomach first thing after eating.

I get bored with toast and it takes longer in the morning and do have much time

What could I have as a breakfast thats filling for most of the morning that isn’t these two?

Just looking for some ideas?

What do you drink with your breakfast?

BonnyEm · 21/10/2021 08:57

Boiled eggs

Toast doesn’t take that much more than cereal surely? Maybe you’re getting an upset tummy from eating quickly?

I would get up a bit earlier tbh.

Maybe try thin bagels - I prefer them to toast or cereal

Cold meat, cheese, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, kippers Grin

Does all cereal/milk affect you? Have you tried porridge, maybe with a different milk substitute? If you have a slow cooker, you can do porridge overnight - v quick in the mornings!

The 3 most easy-to-digest substances are eggs, bananas, and rice.

A banana and an egg liquidised with some rice flour and a bit of baking powder will make an excellent pancake batter.

Also, do you drink tea in the morning.? It doesn’t have a good effect on me first thing, and apparently the tannin can be an irritant to the digestive system.

Scrambled eggs
Smoothies

Scrambled eggs in the microwave - takes 60-90 seconds depending on your power. Make sure you bet the eggs after 30 then 50 seconds.

Porridge made with water?

TammyR224570 · 21/10/2021 14:46

Thanks all for the suggestions.

I did try Bananas for a while so may go back to those, and see.
Either that or possibly cereal bars?

Rice cakes with peanut butter

@SpiceRat

Porridge made with water?
Is that gruel? Grin
SpiceRat · 21/10/2021 21:25

Not at all, I believe it’s the most traditional way to make it. Once you add some nice toppings (honey, chopped nuts and banana is a fave here) you don’t even notice it’s not got milk in.

HunkyPunk · 22/10/2021 08:34

A definition of gruel is ‘a thin porridge’, so, to my mind, water-based porridge fits the bill Smile However, your description of the way you make it sounds lovely, so I might actually give it a go!
