Moving house, when to move GP?

I’m moving house this week, but then having major surgery next week.
I’m moving just out of the catchment of my current GP practice, so need to register with a new one.
I can’t decide whether I should try and register with the new one now, or wait a couple of months until I’ve recovered from surgery.
I’m just thinking that I’ll likely need painkillers and sick notes (& existing repeat meds) from the GP, and concerned that transferring everything to a new GP less than a week before surgery will massively complicate things.

But then I’m moving to a different county, and if I don’t move GPs now, all my sick notes for work etc will have my old address on.

I don’t know what to do really. Any advice/opinions very welcome!

If you don't move now I woukd bebworried than any appointment letters etc. might get sent to the wrong address. Unless you have a mail redirect set up.

We have recently had to move GP due to a house move and it has all been pretty seamless.

I doubt that any GP will allow you to register with them until you have actually moved house. It would be worth giving your current GP your new address so that they can contact you.
